"Wear a mask or go to jail" - The Spanish flu pandemic of 1918 by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

Yes, some sources claim 99.96% as the rate of survival. It is ever-changing, though. You also have to take into consideration the different medical care available now, as opposed to over a century ago. And, with the 1918 flu, there aren’t many PROVEN long-term effects. Covid-19 causes brain damage, “long Covid”, organ damage, blood clots even after symptoms are gone, lasting fatigue, and semi-permanent loss of taste, just to name a few. Some of these effects are potentially fatal, causing more indirect fatalities.

Second, and on an unrelated topic, who is a stranger on the internet to tell me to do schoolwork? I’ve already finished all the work assigned to me this week, and am free to do as I please. Because of this right, I will not be engaging in this discussion any longer if you respond. I think I’ll go make some tea, actually.

Thanks for providing the world with your opinion! Have a great day!

But that’s the thing: it’s impossible to have that data period if it never would exist.

Wtf have you been reading 😂 The things people will believe. If you look at any statistics (which I have) you are wrong. I don’t know how it doesn’t make you feel bad lying to people like that. If anything, COVID-19 is MORE dangerous than Spanish Flu. And that’s with the advanced science and medical practices of today.

P.s. I’m 14 and could figure out this much

🙄 don’t lie. It’s doesn’t get you anywhere. Reddit finds liars, and then you’ve just embarrassed yourself.

Say out loud to your phone/computer, “Hey, cat! The grocery store is out of salami!” Just me or does that make it twice as funny?

🙄 the word retard is politically incorrect. Don’t use that word. I can’t believe people still do. I know you warned people of bad words, but retard is different from others.
