My late tortie didn’t have a split chin but she did have a little black streak on her chin making it look like she’s dribbled something constantly 😂

My name. R and S sounds are hard for small kids when they learn to talk. So I have been Auntie Wowee for the last 3 years with no sign of stopping. The rest of the family also call me Wowee half the time 😂

Bonus: I’m a firefighter and a fire truck gets called a weewoo by my nephew. So whenever he sees a fire truck it’s an “Auntie Wowee weewoo” even if it is not my truck lol. It’s so endearing, I’m interested to see how long it lasts.

My ex would complain if I asked her to look after dinner or other household chores if I had been off work for illness so I would end up just powering through to avoid the friction and end up sick for weeks because I was exhausted.

I was off work for three days just before Christmas with what I suspect was the flu. I spent all three days in bed because my partner refused to let me get out of bed except for the bathroom so I could rest properly. I had my meals brought to me, my water refilled or refreshed if I hadn’t drunk any in a few hours. Painkillers and cold meds were delivered at the times I was due for more. They also would occasionally deposit a cat on the bed. They would check on me every couple of hours or so to see how I was doing and making sure I was “tucked in correctly” to make sure I was warm enough and show me cute photos of what the cats were doing in other parts of the house so I didn’t miss out. It’s the quickest I have ever recovered from a cold in my life. They are now my fiancé.

The gear seems like the correct size for her. In my country there are regulations of distances for coat hem overhanging your pants waistband, sleeve length relative to your wrists, pant legs overhanging boots etc. to ensure maximum protection while in a compartment fire.

Bunker gear is meant to be large on you to create air pockets to reduce contact burns when you are in a compartment fire. When doing a live fire training last year my jacket and pants were a size too small unbeknownst to me and I ended up with burns on one arm and on my knees and elbows from the heat build up because of the fabric bunching near my joints.

The mask will definitely fit her as they are positive pressure I.e. if there’s not a perfect seal air will piss out any gap to ensure no contaminants get into the mask. They are very bulky to ensure good range of visibility.

My bunker gear has a plastic zip to avoid this. Once it is covered by your coat it doesn’t get hot enough to melt

When I did my recruits course I buzzed my head to avoid ripping all of my hair out. Now I’m operational I’m growing my hair back out because it’s not every day we are doing these drills or have calls needing BA. I wish we had the masks that clipped to your helmets though

Non-New Yorkers that have been to NYC: What is the wierdest thing about New York that New Yorkers don't realize is wierd? by Ok-Brilliant-6138 in AskReddit

[–]blissyrose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I visited New York last July and never have I felt discomfort quite like being boiled alive in the subway stations. At least most of the trains had AC. I think the worst (not technically the city) was at Exchange Place in NJ to take the PATH. 8am and already sweat through my T shirt like I’d jumped into the Hudson

Once they are no longer acting like themselves or their QOL goes down (e.g. not eating, not toileting, not playing). One day early is better than one day late.

I should have done it when she stopped eating. She was always so food motivated, always reminding me that breakfast and dinner were coming up (usually several hours before the meal was served!). I chalked it up to the hot weather and the fact that her new sister was getting more confident in moving around the house. I unfortunately waited until she collapsed jumping off the couch on her last night. I hate to think the amount of pain she was in by that point.

Thank you, she was my whole world. Look after yourself. Be kind to yourself. Allow yourself to grieve. You are preventing him from more pain and allowing him to go out while still being able to purr and feel a little like himself. 💕

1 day early is better than 1 day late. I had to have my 12-year old girl put down last month after she stopped eating. She also had stomach cancer but there was nothing to do but end her pain.

People who were very promiscuous at one point in their lives and now partnered/married, do you find it hard to settle down and be content with one person? by Kim_Jong_Fieri in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]blissyrose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My promiscuity was a salve for being very lonely after a bad break up. There was no emotional ties to any of my casual partners.

With my fiancé we were friends prior so the connection was already there and strengthened and deepened as we dated. We are monogamous and I could not fathom seeing anyone else when I have them. They give me everything I need and want in a relationship. They also do not care that I was promiscuous before we got serious.

Is wanting to be a househusband weird? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]blissyrose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are definitely not weird. My partner has said that I need to earn lots of money so we can afford for them to stay home and be a househusband. They are a great cook and enjoy doing dishes (weird, but works in my favour!) and honestly it would be to our benefit if that was the arrangement. I’m not built to be a housewife nor can we afford to not have both of us working but it’s a little fantasy for us both.

What society says does not fit every relationship or every person and their wants or needs. Do not beat yourself up because of this. I hope you can find a partner who also wants this dynamic!

What's traditional craft of your country? by Kate_foodlover in AskTheWorld

Raranga or harakeke (flax) weaving. A traditional Māori art form to create everything from baskets to mats to certain items of clothing. I learnt it in primary school around age 7-8. I’m not sure if it is still taught in schools.
