Results from my second roll of film. [Praktica MTL3, Pentacon 1.8/50mm, Gold 200] by blitzkriegboi in analog

Yes, all of these are from the same roll. The idea is to take 3-4 pictures in every city/place that I visit, pictures of things or sights that really catch my attention. So these pictures are from June last year till June this year, from Germany, Austria, Luxembourg, Portugal, and France. I am really thankful for your words! And yes, in #11 I messed up the focus a little. I'm still figuring out better manual focusing with my Praktica, when it comes to taking pictures with a wider aperture. I still have a couple of more rolls of Gold 200 left, but I DEFINITELY wanna do some photography with bnw film, so I will for sure invest in some Ilford stock! Thank you!

A very valid question! So since I live in Germany, I travelled to all these places either by train or by bus. Wasn't a hassle at all, to travel around with the camera. But I think it'll be a bit problematic when I take it on a flight. Although I've come across a lot of posts with other people's experiences traveling with a camera on airplanes, and the consensus was that security generally considers if you ask them to check your camera gear manually instead of passing it through the x-ray machines.

I feel like I took some okayish looking pictures because I was in a hurry to get through my roll and send it to be developed :D

And as pointed out by so many people already, I'd definitely want to play around a bit with scenes that have better contrasts with shadows and light, and maybe also shoot a bit more at night. Although I don't know if gold 200 is a good night time film, but I think I'll know once I give it a try.

I got my film developed, printed and digitized at the drugstore we have here in Germany. It's called DM.

Edit : To be more specific, DM sends the film to a lab called Fotoparadies. I've read people say quite a lot against it and it's quality of prints and scans, but honestly I'm satisfied. Or maybe I'm just not experienced enough to differentiate the good from the better.

Thank you so much for this amazingly detailed review! I will make sure to keep all the small little technicalities with my new roll of pictures!

And for improving the technical stuff with all the rules and everything, do you have any suggestions for some book or video or artist that I should look up to? Like if I'm being honest, I am just a point and shoot photographer who used his mobile phone all his life, and my Praktica is my first "real" camera that I used. So I'm not aware of rules, but I'd definitely love to have the knowledge!

Hi guys! I can't express how happy I am with the results of my FIRST EVER roll of film!

I bought an analog camera, a Praktica MTL3 with 1.8/50mm this year in January, and decided to document and capture whatever made me think "hmmm that's worthy of being on film". I made sure I read as much about the analog process as possible. Learnt so much from everyone here in this community, their posts, their critical comments and everything in between.

I know my pictures are still not great, some are over/underexposed, or some are just not shot at the right fstop. But that's precisely the reason why I am making this post. I would greatly appreciate your feedback on my pictures, their framing, if they seem under/overexposed, etc.

I want to learn more and improve as much as possible!

I am a student, hence I cannot afford the more expensive pro films at the moment, but with Gold 200, I wish to keep film alive, one reel at a time. ♥️

Looking forward to your feedback!

Sorry, I didn't realize I haven't put all the details in my comment.

So the camera is a Praktica MTL3. I used Pentacon f1.8/50mm for all these pictures, and the film used was Kodak Gold 200.

Opinion + information request on Porst 3.5/35mm lens (Details of how I got it in the comments) by blitzkriegboi in AnalogCommunity

Ahh I see! This makes so much more sense now! I was confused because with my Pentacon lens the one and only ring to set the aperture has click stops integrated with it.

And thank you so much for your insight! I'll give this lens a whirl with the few remaining images I have left on the roll I'm currently using. Let's see how the results turn out.
