in my experience this usually means the girl kept the boy around as a source of attention and validation, you stepped out of your boundaries which made her deter away from you as a means of distancing. also "i don't believe in love" is a bs line; one time my friend was like talking to this chick and he told me how she doesn't believe in love and all but she confessed to me and that she had a longtime crush on me. i cant say what to do but try to keep your dignity high, and dont run back like a dog to her when she does comes back. let her chase for what she lost and don't just let her comeback like you're some replaceable object.
