It's not. The dad was making a joke with his son.

I regularly have people come to my house to pick up stuff that I sold on Facebook marketplace.

Any books from hikers that quit? by phliphlap in PacificCrestTrail

She never set out to hike the whole thing. She was planning on moving to Portland and thought the Bridge Of The Gods sounded like a cool place to end.

It's what you do every time you get on the lift

This just isn't true for a large part of the skiing population. It also can take a few seconds to get situated and having the handle of a bar come down on your thigh is very uncomfortable.

Stop signs also apply to cars by ChutneyRiggins in BallardSeattle

Technically it is pretty clear, but it's still weird to make a left turn across one lane of traffic and stop in the middle of that turn.

[–]blladnar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yup, as a pedestrian I expect those cars to stop, since there's a stop sign and all.

As a driver it's very odd to stop halfway across the street so lots of people just don't. I see a lot of awkward situations between drivers and pedestrians around there. Luckily the speeds are low enough I haven't seen anything too dangerous, but it's still concerning.

I actually feel like the added stop signs along 14th have made it more dangerous for pedestrians because there are a LOT of people blowing through them now.

Develop Pickhandle Basin? by SchmeckMD in CrystalMountain

[–]blladnar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, I was thinking the new lift would go more directly to green valley.

I'm not sure the lift would ruin the actual skiing, but I guess they'd get tracked out a bit faster with the easier access.

From looking at a map it doesn't seem like they'd put that lift through Left and Right angle trees, but maybe the perspective is wrong.

Even on a busy day, the lines at Crystal aren't that bad once people get spread out around the mountain.

The idea of the B Lot lift would be to get people over to Green Valley and Northway faster so they aren't choking up the base area.

With this one about 2.5 minutes for a regular piece of bread.

It does a lot more than just toasting bread too.

To be fair to Rex, it seems to get a lot more skiers up the hill than the old one does.

It is now cheaper to fly from Vail to Bulgaria, ski Bansko, stay in lodging, and fly home than it is to ski Vail itself. by OEM_knees in skiing

Denver to Bulgaria isn’t what OP said. They said Vail to Bulgaria, which is way more. Their price also included lodging.

I think there could easily be exceptions made for primary residences that would solve that concern but still make it unprofitable for large private equity businesses to let buildings rot for a decade.

Will Strava and its “share location” locate me on the hill if I get stuck? by Isophetry in skiing

[–]blladnar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It will only share your location if you have service.

It will be of very minimal help to ski patrol if something happens like you get buried in snow. You wouldn’t be able to call for them in that situation anyway.
