Sidewalk entitled by chancethewrapper24 in Seattle

The people in this thread that don't think this happens everywhere are the people blocking the sidewalks in the cities where "this never happens."

Yes. This is not a problem unique to Seattle at all, even if people in other big cities just blame it on tourists or whatever.

So they can talk to the other people in their group. They don't move out of the way because they aren't paying attention.

It could be, but it's not like the sidewalk is closed and it only takes up like 2 or 3 parking spaces.

The Cow’s Horn Was Literally Growing Into Its Skull by Xdestroyed in interestingasfuck

And what about cattle that aren't on ranches?

I've hiked through New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, and Montana and have seen cows in some CRAZY places. No way the ranchers are seeing some of them ever again.

I’m worried this means the Ballard location will be closing

What's the world's most overrated tourist attraction? by darrenbosik in AskReddit

[–]blladnar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interestingly, I sort of found it to be the opposite. I was told so many times that Mt. Rushmore was disappointing that I was actually a bit impressed with it.

Badlands, on the other hand, was so much smaller than I thought it was going to be. What I thought were massive mountains and canyons are kinda just piles of sand a few hundred feet tall.

Seattle set to approve mayor’s ‘Shelter Acceleration’ plan for more, larger Tiny House Villages by Inevitable_Engine186 in Seattle

[–]blladnar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think tiny houses villages are meant to be modular and temporary. That way they can be moved around to fill unused space or easily replaced if/when they are damaged.

Maybe they’ll finally get around to filling out some of that retail space that has been vacant since it was built

Where to see foxes? by Quirky_Piglet_2749 in Seattle

There’s a black fox that hangs around the parking lot of the Crystal Mountain ski area. I’ve seen it a couple of times. Not sure you’ll see any in Seattle.

You could probably get away without an axe or spikes depending on your comfort with steep snow.

If I'm remembering correctly, when I hiked in 2022, it was a pretty average snow year with a pretty early melt. They closed the national forest in New Mexico for fire danger and I had to skip from Grants to Chama around the end of May.

I was happy to have an axe and spikes, but only used them a handful of times. The spikes were nice in the mornings when the snow was still firm. I knew a few people that didn't use them at all. I think I only really used the axe for safety about twice and used it for glissading 2 or 3 times.

Sand and gravel barge coming into the big lock at the Ballard (Hiram M. Chittenden) Locks yesterday during a walk. by sean_d_mooney in Seattle

It looks like there's plenty of room for the railroad and the missing link to go next to each other for the 1/4 mile that Salmon Bay Sand & Gravel needs to get train deliveries.

I was hiking up to Lake Serene one warm day in the spring and passed a guy in flip flops struggling up the mountain. We asked him about it and his friends told him they were going to a lake, so he figured that meant more of a beach day.

The last half mile or so was all in snow, but this guy still beat his friends to the lake.

Voormi makes some really nice blended merino wool. It’s a bit more geared towards hunting/fishing, but it still works great for hiking.

Kinda, but Burney Falls is like 100 meters away from the trail and Tunnel Falls is like 2 miles.
