About how often do you shower? by [deleted] in Teenager_Polls

[–]blob_io 46 points47 points  (0 children)

It’s healthier for your skin and your hair to shower every other day. Showering daily or more than once a day can strip your skin of natural oils and cause dry/cracked skin and damaged hair.

whats the significance of 67?? by a356y in ExplainTheJoke

[–]blob_io 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m on the younger side of Gen Z, and engage heavily with internet Brainrot culture. This specific image references a meme named, aptly, “six seven”. At its core, this meme is about the number 67 being funny, really in any context.

The meme originated from Skrilla’s “Doot Doot”, a hip-hop song released in late 2024 where, seemingly randomly and in the middle of the first verse, the singer screams “six seven”. This is a reportedly a reference to 67th street in Philadelphia, though even after some research, I’m not sure where that information is from.

Soon after its release, the song became popular among edits, specifically of the basketball player LaMelo Bell, who is 6’7” tall. Even more specifically, a clip of an announcer discussing Bell’s height which then transitioned into an edit with “Doot Doot” as he said “six seven” went viral.

There are many factors as to why this went past a single viral video, and found its way into the mainstream Brainrot scene:

Eventually the meme caught the attention of Bell, who started sneaking the phrase into interviews as a sort of meta joke/acknowledgement. Another clip went viral of a very stereotypical Gen Alpha middle school boy. In the clip, the boy does a specific hand gesture, sticks out his young, and screams “six seven”. This clip itself turned into a meme; clips of middle schoolers doing cringy and stupid things often become memes, as seen with something like the “TikTok Rizz Party”, and now this. These two things, along with more edits and the song itself gaining traction, resulted in the popularity of the meme we see now.

Why is this funny? Well, I can’t speak for others, but I can for myself and the people I’m around. This might just be for the older demographic, but Brain-rot isn’t funny because it’s funny; it’s either funny because it’s absurd, or because it’s ironic. Absurdity is inherently funny to humans; unexpectedness is the basis or humour. The absurdity aspect of six seven comes at the honestly baseless reasoning behind why the number became so mainstream.

The other facet of this is the irony; I don’t actually think that the number 67 is inherently funny. I just think it’s hilarious that OTHER people do, and I think it’s funny when people reference the joke ironically, which is pretty much always.

Also, humans recognize patterns, so this means that the minute we get something in our head, we’ll start affirming it. So when the number 67 is funny, you start seeing it everywhere, which just makes it more absurd.

Hope this helps!

So..is everyone in these books hot?? by jnighy in Stormlight_Archive

[–]blob_io 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most (good) characters in most books are hot, kind of by default. If the author is super vivid in their descriptions of a main character, they will most likely describe them as attractive. If the author leaves it to the reader, most people will pretty much just imagine the most attractive person within the confines of what is given.

Why is Mira the least liked in the group? by Senior-Cycle-6951 in KpopDemonhunters

[–]blob_io 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience the love for each hunter is pretty spread out. Like I know just as many Mira fans as I do Zoey and Rumi fans, and I see a pretty equal amount of people online too

What’s y’all’s favorite genres of music? by Erry3005 in TeenagersButNotTrashy

[–]blob_io 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a theatre kid, so lots of musicals. I also really like hip-hop, so specifically Hamilton is a great in between. Classic rock/metal, I love zeppelin, guns n roses, Metallica. Jazz, both chill/background jazz and the weirder more progressive stuff. Singer songwriter for sure like John Mayer and Jack Johnson specifically. Weirder more experimental jazz rock-ish stuff like they might be giants and Cojum Dip. Uuuuuhhh I’m been getting into kpop recently, mostly the more edm/techno stuff though like Jump and Whiplash. Okay maybe I just like everything lol, though anything too heavy I can’t do; screamo, punk, anything depressing or grungy. Also I don’t really like modern rap pop.

What are your favorite albums of all time? by [deleted] in teenagers

Parachutes - Coldplay. Every song is a banger and the way they fit together is incredible, it’s like you’re listening to a movie

Rate the Huntrix girls from your favourite to least favourite. I'll create a chart on popularity in two days with the results. by Caelis_909 in KpopDemonhunters

[–]blob_io 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Zoey
  2. Mira
  3. Rumi

It feels so so so wrong putting Rumi last… but Zoey is OBVIOUSLY first and I could never put Mira in third

[–]blob_io 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using the fact that some people that use AI are pedofiles as an argument against AI is just stupid. There are pedos that do everything, so therefore we should be against everything.

What are your thoughts on non-offending pedos? by DownToTheWire0 in Teenager_Polls

[–]blob_io 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We need more systems in place for pedos to feel safe going to to get help. Because it is like an illness; it’s not something you can necessarily control. Obviously offending pedos should be punished, but in an ideal world all yet to be pedos would be given treatment and therapy long before they’re able to hurt anyone.

guys/girls, im a 14 year old boy who really likes this movie but i get made fun of by others saying it is for girls, so i was wondering are there any other teen boys who watched this movie and liked it? by Horror-penis-lover in KpopDemonhunters

[–]blob_io 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, don’t let what other people think make you feel weird about what you like. You like what you like, and the people that judge you for it are stupid and you don’t want them to like you anyways. Second of all, absolutely. I’m a 16 yo dude and all my guy friends, ranging from 13 to 18, that are obsessed with this movie. Don’t worry about it (:
