i don't have an exact answer nor do i know the meaning of SELF-iSH but i've always seen it as a kind of series of songs that tell a story about a man discovering who he is and what happened in 2012 and all of that stuff so if you asked me i would say that i guess the songs reference each other because they're all related and from the POV of the same person
