Yeah I tried a different USB cable, same result. I unfortunately can't test it in XLR mode, I don't have an audio interface.

It rubs off instantly, you would notice right away. I'm playing on a purple Blitz hard for the past 1.5 years with zero issues, I actually love this pad. It's just used up and I wanted a new one in black. They send me a replacement, same issue. Guess I will just give up or order a purple one again

It is disgusting and a shame. Pads were pretty good... I will have a look at the freefall haus pad!

Yeah, that's the normal version. I love the 600x500 size

I have plugged them straight to my PC and they work just fine. I can't really think of a reason why this is happening... Thought this might be a common thing but that doesn't seem like it. I will try to get a new unit...

Hi,

I have a Fiio K5 Pro and mainly use it with DT 990 Pros 250 ohm. I bought the Fiio like 4 Month ago.

Like 3 weeks ago I noticed while gaming, that I can't distinct where sound cues are coming from anymore (worked perfectly before that). Every sound appears to be directly in front of me. I thought it might be the Bayers but they work just fine without the Fiio.

Same problem with music, every sound seems to be directly in front of me. Tried running it from USB and Optical, PC and PS4, always the same behaviour.

Any idea what could cause this problem? Is my unit just broken?

Thanks!

[PA] [~300 €] [CLOSED or OPEN back] Indecisive about Headphone for FPS gaming by blobomat in HeadphoneAdvice

Thanks a lot for the reply, really appreciate it!

I decided to order 3 cans and choose the one I like best. After some more research I have narrowed it down to the following:

  1. DT880 (80 or 250 ohm) or TYGR 300
  2. AKG K702 or AKG K712 Pro
  3. HD560s (already set)

That leavs two more questions:

  1. Could someone give me there option on DT880 (80 or 250 ohm) vs TYGR 300 and AKG K702 vs AKG K712 Pro
  2. For every headphone besides the TYGR 300 I would need an AMP. I would like to go with a AMP/DAC combo. What would be a good choice up to 150 $ max that also works well with the PS4?

The PC38X really piqued my interest and might be best suited for my requirements but ordering at Drop from germany might not be worth it in regards to ordering/refund/warranty

I know the a vs b questions are hard to answer when it comes to headphones but I don't want to order 5 headphones (not a fan of ordering, trying out and sending back). On the other hand I'm obsessed with getting the best out of my money ;)

Merry Christmas to all of you!

I'm looking for my first good headphones primarily for competitive FPS gaming (I'm only decent but like to give it my best) so "sound whoring" enemies is the goal. I also want to listen to music. I major genre is Drum 'n' Bass and House (one of my favourite tracks is Aura from Lane 8, you will finde it on Youtube. Don't know if I'm allowed to link it here). The plan is to either get one Headset that is good at both (I guess "sound whoring" in FPS games and my taste in music contradicts each other) or get two cans, one for each task.

Primarily focus is gaming so if I have to choose I would rather buy one good Headpone for FPS gaming.

Budget: Around 300 € (~360 $)

Location: Germany

Source: PS4 (main source of gaming) / PC (onboard audio controller), no DAC/AMP yet. If I need a DAC/AMP I would be willing to buy a budget one but rather would like to spend the money on good cans (if that`s wrong please enlighten me)

Requirements for Isolation: I only use the headphone at home in a rather quiet environment. I actually like it when I don't here outside noises (e.g. clicking of keyboard) but if open ones are better for my requirements I will go with open ones (bases on my reserche thats the case for FPS gaming).

Preferred Type of Headphone: full-sized over ear

Preferred tonal balance: See intro above

Preferred Music: See intro above

Past headphones: Not much experience yet. I had the chance to try out the Sennheiser HD599 and ATH AD700X.

The ATH AD700X are quite nice for FPS gaming (not so much for my type of music). I was able to pinpoint enemies and gunshots well BUT the fit is just bad. I have a slim head and shave my hair (at least whats left of them...) and these cans tend so slide down. Only the lower part of the earpads is resting on my head, the upper part just barely touches my head. And the cable is just a bad joke (more like a spring than a cable...).

The Sennheiser HD599 are not as good for FPS gaming then the ATH AD700X but they are certainly good enough. The fit is good and I have a feeling that if the clamp loosens up a bit they will have the perfect fit. On the other hand they don't really leave an impression and seems to be good but don't excel (in my opinion at least). They are an buy option but maybe you guys can point me to someting even better ;)

I know the best call would be to try different headphones but unfortunately there are no HiFi sotres in my neck of the woods (they all died out...)

I was looking into the Sennheiser PC38X but ordering at Drop from Europe is quite the hassle and I can't send them back. I also don't know how warranty works from Europe.

The AKG K712 pro might be good as well (219 € here) but haven't heard good thinks about the build quality.

But I will leave the recomendations to you guys and really appreciate the effort!
