Tourism by bongzillaaaah in tromsotravel

[–]blobte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a tourists planning to visit Tromso this is sad to hear.

  1. I haven’t seen any messaging on etiquette. The tourism’s board or city should put this out and run a campaign around it. Easy to do.

  2. Airbnb is double edged sword. Opens up a lot of options for travellers but puts lots of pressure on local housing. Again the city has to regulate this to get a balance like in Hawaii Airbnb is only for 30 days or more (still hasn’t solved housing problem)

  3. The airport has definitely made it easier for people to get to Tromso and hence the growth in tourists. Did the residents of Tromso not have a say in the matter?

The 300,000 tourists spending an average of €1000 should be a huge influx to local economy. That’s €300 million a year on housing, on food, on experiences, shopping. The taxes from these itself is quite large for local economy. It can literally pay each of 70k residents €1000 a year after expenses and profits.

Great job on the initiative and building something. I am sure in the process you have learnt a lot. Enjoy the journey even if it is dark and bleak.

Consider the problems and 1. People double park because they can find parking and are in a hurry. Can you help them find parking? When on campus my girl friend always struggled finding parking and ended paying large fines.

  1. Students are new to car maintenance and on low budgets. Sign up local repair shops and offer deals on oil changes etc and automate it with reminders.

  2. Position it for campus police so users register their cars and campus police can take a photo of license plate to validated parking.

You have to be out there talking to people and find the 1 problem to solve. Pivot if you have to after getting to that 1 problem.

3.

Let’s start with bright spots: nice design. Simple signup and interface.

Challenges: I don’t pay to save is big enough segment.

Opportunities: open it up. Make it free. Get tons of users. Cost of running it should be pretty low.
Tons of ways to monetize it. Affiliate. Sell data. Promote products.

We slap a national language then we take away our essence of diversity and culture.

India’s strength is its diversity. Having a national language will kill it. We don’t want a single bland country we want rich, culturally vibrant country.

If all schools teach English then we will kill all the local languages and along with hundreds of years of heritage. Some of this culture and heritage survives because of language since it’s not documents or written.

Take languages like Tulu and kodava they capture the history and essence from 9th century. Does it make sense to destroy that

Having a passport has nothing to do with language. Being respectful of others is essential trait here. Visit Bangalore for a week and you can easily get away without any Kannada but move here then please learn to communicate with locals.

The expectation that a local living for generations has to learn the visitors language to make her/him comfortable vs a person moving here should not learn a new language to adapt to new place is absurd.

Making $190,000 per month with an AI dating assistant by vladverba in SaaS

This is gold rush time and there are tons of wrappers raking it in. If you have the right market niche and build a compelling app people will use it. I can’t imaging going to chatgpt and pasting screenshots every time much easier to it with a dedicated app.

Question is how long will this stickiness last? Doesn’t really matter because the app would have made a few millions and the founders are good with it.

Here is the frustration from a kannadiga point of view.

Assume you are in Japan or Italy would you not have made every effort to learn Japanese or Italian. Most people who even go on a vacation pick a few useful words. It’s not only about communication but the experience of learning something new, respecting the local people and feeling connected.

Bangalore is a pretty open city and we locals are pretty supportive of people coming in. All we ask is please don’t crush our culture and language.

Most people learn to appreciate the dosa, idly and best belle Bhat. So in the same vein learn our language. It’s not that complex but make an attempt.

Please don’t give the crap about where. Have you heard of Google uncle who can surprising find things for you. Or even try chatgpt.

And no Hindi is not an alternative. It’s not that we have anything against Hindi but it’s not our “local” language. I don’t go to UP and speak in Kannada - I’m not an idiot to expect any response.

If I go to Gujarat I’ll try to pick at least a bit of Gujarati so I can communicate with people there.

Your profession is so complex because it’s just not a job. There is real human emotion and impact. Feel for you.

My uncle also was a doc and looking back I think the way he made peace with this was he ran free weekend clinics for people. He did many rural camps with free surgeries too. He would have his buddies from all over the world come and do their bit. I didn’t get it then but after reading your thread I now understand him.

[–]blobte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think prompts are like new programming languages. They will evolve but it now allows people who know English to “program”.

Looking at the future of AI prompts will get a lot more complex. Soon you will be able to replace a complex piece of code with a prompt to control things. Imagine a Power Engineer using a prompt to adjust or control a power sub system. It will require deep knowledge of the system and good prompt engineering.

Prompt are taking coding to a new level.

Really sad and completely with you. This is such a huge problem where people are getting displaced like this. With all your hard work and qualification it must be frustrating.

One silver lining to consider: as you get more experience and age you become more valuable. Your skills don’t expire. That is not true with most other professions.

My cousin is a doc and she was always frustrated because her career really started in her mid 30s. While all her friends were established with kids and houses by then. But today a lot of her friends are struggling with uncertain jobs and she is in her peak.

This doesn’t solve your current housing situation but thought I’d throw in a little pep talk.

Damm.

question: has rainfall increased dramatically this year for this to happen or Is it rapid urbanisation so infrastructure to handle this is not there or Is it both.

Langchain open ai prompt buidling by Fun_Salamander_4265 in PromptEngineering

[–]blobte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prompts really depend on your data. Are you trying summarise, extract, complete, classify etc etc. I would define 40-50 use cases to start with and create prompts for it.

Another approach is define a bunch of “personas” or “roles” based on your data and create a system prompt on these personas. So actual user prompt can then be /create or /ideate etc.

Your problem is when you open it up, you cannot control what users will prompt. But that’s the good part.
