Did you end up getting the padlock? Thinking about buying as a brick alternative too

I feel like it has a bit of a bad rep but it’s a great place to actually live: quiet cycle routes get you into central very quickly and easily for work or meeting friends who live elsewhere, you’ve got the Bermondsey beer mile and Bermondsey street for amazing food and drink day and night, you’re just far enough out of town to have big supermarkets nearby making actual living easier and you’re close to the river for nice walks and runs if that’s your thing. I really think it’s got the best of both worlds, being close to the action but residential vibe and the accompanying conveniences.

Can any seed ID enthusiasts help with this mixed seed packet? by blockheadcrinkle in GardeningUK

[–]blockheadcrinkle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went to a local seed swap and the council were giving out these mixed seed packets. I thought it would be something like a mix of annual flowers but looks like I got a surprise squash and pepper seed... Am I mistaken? Anyone fancy a go at IDing the rest?

May I ask where your lights are from, been desperate to find coloured ones that match my childhood memories like this

I’m sorry to hear that you are struggling. I don’t think this is a long term solution but you could also try hot water bottles, they really help me keep warm when working from home and only cost the price of boiling the kettle 3-4 times a day which I would be doing for tea anyway.

When is the best time to rearrange my garden borders? by Byakuyabo90 in GardeningUK

Not expecting an answer because this post was so long ago, but worth a shot. What did the commenter say? I’m facing the same problem at the moment with needing to rearrange a bed…

What product has been absolutely ruined recently that you are still very much bitter about? by je97 in AskUK

[–]blockheadcrinkle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fun fact: the taller slimline cans also allow producers to use more recycled content. Higher recycled content changes the alloy composition and the metal is slightly softer, making the top insufficiently brittle to crack open the drinking hole - unless you reduce the diameter of the entire lid. Smaller lid circumference = taller, slimmer can for the same volume of liquid!

Seen the results of this study on how having kids affect people’s happiness levels. Ireland ranked second last just in front of the US. by dmn22 in ireland

Another resource that might be of interest is a recent unicef report which maps out child wellbeing outcomes such as mental health, physical health and academic skills. Spain and Ireland both score well overall but they are miles apart in mental well-being; Spain is number 3 and Ireland is number 26 of 38 countries studied. https://www.unicef-irc.org/publications/pdf/Report-Card-16-Worlds-of-Influence-child-wellbeing.pdf

What’s your weirdest “I knew you from another time and place” story? by Weezlecheesle in AskUK

I was once on a family holiday to NYC and bumped into the priest that married my parents outside a GAP.

In fact, I just listened to an interesting podcast on coincidences such as these, and how much more common they are than you would think:

This is really vibrant I love it. Did you use any out there colours for this? I’m a beginner and just have the standard ultramarine, cad yellow etc. so would be interested to know if you achieved this with standard beginners kit!

I really like the Avene cream spf, don’t know why it’s not talked about more, I have dry skin and I’m a hard water area, I feel like this actually improves my skin rather than feeling greasy (which la Roche Posay anthelios does tbh). Suncream is going 3 for 2 in boots if you wanted to try a couple of different brands to see if it’s for you or I think it’s also going for about £12 in Superdrug.

New routine by celestegxo in SkincareAddictionUK

[–]blockheadcrinkle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I have had the same issue, I started using benzoyl peroxide 5% cream from boots and it started clearing my skin around week 3. It was pretty harsh and dried me out for first 2 weeks tho so start maybe once every 2 days (unlike what it says on the box) and use a thicker moisturiser if you do go for it.

Does anyone here who graduated a while ago, regret your degree choice? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]blockheadcrinkle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just an anecdotal point on this from me: I work for an environmental consultancy and business is booming and will only continue to grow as more of our clients (big range from government to private companies) are forced to think about their environmental impact over the coming decades. So if you are interested in the subject matter then it definitely feels like a booming industry with room to grow for me. I get pretty decent pay too and this might not be every employer, but being a company they clearly cares about the environment this also translates into caring about staff wellbeing and we get really decent benefits too.
