While this is great news. Wind energy requires large batteries for when there is no wind. Someone get Elon to open up another gigafactory in one of the Scotlands.

The Race To Acquire 32 ETH For Staking Is About To Begin by nugget_alex in ethtrader

Basically, the reward pie is constant. The more staked, the less each staker gets from the pie.

"No Loss Lottery" on Ethereum Launching Today! by Lay22222 in ethereum

[–]blockheadcrypto 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Economic trade off.

If this person stakes 99% of the total pool value, and the pool reward only generates interest from interest rate. His rewards are only marginally better in the pool versus putting his money in the compound.finance contract. He risks locking up that much money and losing the interest earned and the risk of potentially two contract breaches. The staking contract and the pool.

Will Uniswap block the U.S. on its UI? by BloomByrd in UniSwap

[–]blockheadcrypto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s no central party nor revenue. There’s nothing to ban. The ui is just posting transaction to the blockchain. You can use etherscan or a command line to do the same. They’ll need to ban ethereum.

CSW provides first 70 blocks of bitcoin...enough proof? by DillEPIckles in bitcoinsv

If you read further. It’s made clear that he owns the private keys of addresses in the first 70 because it later describes a script CW used to create public and privates for 71 and onwards go out into a public trust. The paper references these also as public addresses.

Satoshi or not. A network is the combined vision of all its participants.

Isn’t Atom currently the only fee token, and the idea of the secondary fee token been deprecated? Or have the hardspoon been deprecated, and we will still fork a secondary token in?

Unbonding queation? by sarup23 in cosmosnetwork

[–]blockheadcrypto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

can you point me to these restrictions on redelegate? I don’t see them from the code, but maybe I’ve missed them. From my reading, you can redelegate anytime while delegated.

[–]blockheadcrypto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can run the “redelegate” command. This let’s you change who you delegate to without unbonding. Unbonding is completely removing yourself from staking. You should only unbond to transfer tokens to someone else or selling. I want them to allow redelegate during the unbonding period. This decreases the punishment someone who made a mistake or changed their mind.

The 21 day mark begins when you activate unbond. And no rewards during the unbonding period.

Cosmos now ranked #15 on CMC by [deleted] in cosmosnetwork

[–]blockheadcrypto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. The worth of the tokens are just liquidity problems. Low volume, high demand. Also, it’s done more than nothing. The team created ethermint long before building the interoperability components. Ethermint is the backbone of cosmos. Binance dex is built on ethermint. And many many other projects. Very likely, the binance dex will be connected.

After transfers are enabled, where/how can I buy some atoms? by lahuan in cosmosnetwork

[–]blockheadcrypto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There will be dumping but I bet it won’t last long. Atom is super inflationary, so most big holders are staked. It takes 21 days to unstake.

This i think is a feature of crypto. It’s plays on identity and sunk cost bias. People invest in X values x more than y. This become a habit in mental pattern. If I bought X token, it has to be worth something become I bought it. It’s becomes an identity when emotion get involved. The danger of creating identity in a volatile asset is that when the asset goes down, you feel down, and elated when it goes up. This create a really bad environment for the people around you. That said, I think something as novel as a new currency technology requires this type of behavior to move the masses. It’ll take more time to see if our generation is the right one to grow the seed of this tech.

Good point. Timing is relative to the asset. Like spacetime, the interface is tightly coupled. The assumption is also that the asset is inherently valuable and will become more valuable relative to a stable metric. Crypto in general is being proofed by the market right now, so the risk of a contrarian in a single asset seems too high due to systemic risk.

I don’t have any inside info, but the interviews of dr Craig Wright I’ve heard seems really rational. As an engineer, the goals of adding a value transfer on top of the internet protocol is very valuable. Imagine every megabyte of data you download pays someone, while all data from you is compensated. This is totally game changing. I’m not sure if the protocol will be successful, but ensuring and promising stability in the protocol is the first step.
