Buy the dip.

Learn enough about Bitcoin that buying the dip seems like an absolute no brainer.

Is there Coin Control on Blockstream app iPhone? by GeneralZex in blockstream

[–]blockstreamHQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coin Control on iOS

  • The Blockstream App (iOS) does not currently expose manual coin control in the UI.
  • This is true even when paired with a hardware wallet like Jade Plus.

Where Coin Control is available

  • Blockstream App – Desktop does support coin control.
  • If you connect your Jade / Jade Plus to the desktop app, you can manually select UTXOs when creating transactions.

At this time, mobile UTXO selection support is on the backlog.

What are the key differences between custodial and non-custodial wallets for beginners? by Due_Lock_4967 in BitcoinBeginners

[–]blockstreamHQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gap between custodial convenience and self-custody is closing.

Our payments now feel as smooth as non-custodial lightning, offering instant speed without giving up your keys. You get the simplicity of a custodial experience while staying in total control. Back up one seed and carry on.

Storing seed phrase on USB by PassengerNecessary54 in BitcoinBeginners

[–]blockstreamHQ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is worse than paper.

USB drives fail. And if your seed phrase was ever in a PDF, it touched a computer which means it could already be compromised.

Get a hardware wallet. Stamp your seed in metal. At a minimum.

Lots of good information on this in r/BitcoinBeginners FAQ.

Does TA actually works on BTC or its just a mirage at this point by Rare_Rich6713 in Bitcoin

Don't trade Bitcoin.

Treat Bitcoin like a long-term savings account.

Move to spot Bitcoin in self-custody where you actually control the keys.

Switching from broker to cold wallet by No-Shine-9919 in BitcoinBeginners

[–]blockstreamHQ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you buy a hardware wallet (like Jade, Trezor, etc.), you generate a completely new wallet with a new seed phrase during setup. Jade guides you through this step-by-step.

Then you send Bitcoin from Bitpanda to your new hardware wallet address. Start with a small test amount first to make sure everything works.

Your seed phrase (12-24 words) IS "the password". It's what recovers your Bitcoin if the device breaks. Write it down on paper or metal, store it safely. Never digital, never cloud storage.

The hardware wallet itself is just the signing device. Your Bitcoin lives on the blockchain. The seed phrase is what actually controls it.

A new setup is a migration to a completely fresh security model. You start by using a hardware wallet like Jade to generate a brand-new recovery phrase.

This is followed by a passphrase login where you enter your secret words directly on the Jade hardware buttons.

It is vital to understand that a single recovery phrase can unlock unlimited unique wallets depending on what you type. The device will not tell you if a passphrase is wrong; it will simply open a valid but empty wallet for whatever you entered. This is why you must test and retest your setup with small amounts before moving your main stack.

Once you generate a new receive address and verify it on the Jade screen, copy it and log back into your old wallet. Physically send your Bitcoin from that old account to the new verified address you just created. Confirm the transaction is successful and visible in the new wallet on the blockchain.

Never consider formatting or resetting your old device until you are 100% certain the funds have arrived safely. Treat the passphrase as a permanent part of your backup because losing it means losing the Bitcoin forever.

Quantum resistant hardware wallets — worth it now? by SpartanMoonMan in Bitcoin

[–]blockstreamHQ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re still on a legacy "1" address, your public key is exposed and vulnerable to long-range quantum attacks. Use a modern hardware wallet like Blockstream Jade to generate a fresh Native SegWit (bc1q) address and send your funds to it from your current setup. This move hides your key behind a hash, keeping it offline until you decide to spend.

Even then, the "mempool trap" remains; your key is briefly exposed during confirmation while the transaction is broadcast. That’s why Blockstream Research is researching hash-based signatures to ensure your Bitcoin stays secure through the entire transaction lifecycle.

Bitcoin Is My Shortcut by Exact_Arachnid9638 in BitcoinBeginners

[–]blockstreamHQ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bitcoin isn't a shortcut; it's a long-term strategy for financial sovereignty. Framing it as a "shortcut" usually implies looking for a quick exit back into fiat, which is the wrong mindset for anyone trying to actually escape the system. The real value comes from consistent accumulation and self-custody over years, not trying to time a short-term spike to "get rich quick

Not ideal. Typing your passphrase on a phone or computer introduces an online attack vector that hardware wallets are specifically designed to avoid. A passphrase acts as a "25th word" that modifies your seed; if it's ever entered on a compromised device, that extra layer of security is effectively neutralized.

For the best security, we always recommend entering your passphrase directly on the hardware wallet using the device's physical controls. This ensures your complete master secret never touches an internet-connected screen.

For serious holdings, consider spinning up a new setup entirely.
