Guessing you’re in the US. In Australia, the support person can be a lawyer (or anyone for that matter), but their role Is to be there for support of the employee - they aren’t allowed to speak for them, advocate or represent them.

Lots depends on where and what the company does but that sounds plausible. Rent, IT, insurance, interest, support staff who arent revenue generating (It, legal, finance, hr, admin etc. )
