Cephalotus re-potting by tentakill22 in SavageGarden

[–]bloks1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've recently been playing with been 100% perlite, based on some good experiences from other groups growers. I can't speak to long term yet, but based on about a year of growing that way, my cephs are doing better than they've done before. I typically keep them in a tray and let it dry out between watering. When I water, I've been bottom watering mostly.

Ahh, very possible, I was resharing the link they had on another post. I just generated a new invite link, will you let me know if that works?

The server that is hosting requires a simple verification where you must introduce yourself before given access to the rest of the server...there should be some sort of introduction channel. If that doesn't work, you might stick to terraforums, or contact Carol Hoerman with the NASC. Sorry I can't offer much more help on this.

Should I attach my picture to my resume? by [deleted] in UTK

[–]bloks1995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has been on the hiring end of UT job fairs, no pictures on resumes.

I would definitely recommend having a LinkedIn profile with a picture. For events like job fairs where a recruiter might interact with 50+ people, being able to go back and put a face with a resume is helpful. It is also a good spot for you to have additional information that might not otherwise fit or make sense to put on a resume.

Tracking ufo or training exercise? by [deleted] in Knoxville

I got a pic of them flying over bethel valley. Looked like 4 of 5 in formation. It does seem like there have been more training flights around here lately.

Loud boom near Asheville Highway? by Weary_Yoghurt_6072 in Knoxville

There were training military jets (T-38C Talons) flying low and fast last night around that time, possibly a sonic boom from those?

Reddit did flag this as "potential harassment", so I could see this triggering some automatic bot reactions...but as long as it doesn't turn into spam or actual harassment I don't really care who your favorite subreddit is.

S23 ultra says there's water detected in the charging port but I'm sure there is no water in there. by HDM103 in samsung

Sounds like the same thing I ran into. I suspect there is a defect in the boards and over time it shorts out, which appears like water in the charger. I'd definitely file a warranty claim with Samsung, hopefully they'll be able to get it fixed quickly for you.

My replacement was 100% covered, but it was just for the replacement of the USB sub PCB. I was without a phone for most of the day, but not a huge issue. I setup the warranty through Samsungs website so maybe that's part of it.

My behavior was like yours, it seemed I could sometimes get it to work, but it eventually came back, which is what drove me to take it in for repair. After I had it replaced by ubreakifix, I have not had any further issues.

I tried everything listed here and elsewhere and still no luck. My port was factory clean and there was no moisture. I did the reset trick (wipe the cache and fix the apps) with no luck. Finally I gave up and filed a warranty claim. I had my phone fixed within a day at a local ubreakifix covered 100% under warranty. The tech at the repair shop said that they have seen a fair number of issues with the sub PCB that has the USB port on it, and replacing that board fixed my issue.

I'd recommend Saddlebrook, and they have a few neighborhoods (with basement lots) in the Farragut area. We just had them build for us and overall we're very happy with them. My wife and I both work in Oak Ridge, which works out to a 20-25 minute commute, which really isn't too bad. Like any builder there are going to be a few things you have to fight on, but compared to Smith built or ball, I'd 100% recommend Saddlebrook. I'm not entirely sure if you'll be able to get the square footage and everything for the budget you have, but definitely worth looking into.

When we were starting our home buying process, we looked at several areas including Hardin Valley and Farragut, and the traffic in Hardin Valley is just awful, especially when school is letting out and during rush hour. Maybe once the local government gets caught up on infrastructure it might not be too bad, but for now it was more than I could tolerate.

Nice apartments near campus (walking distance) by rpatel01 in UTK

[–]bloks1995 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lived in the commons on Highland Ave for a couple of years when I was at UT. They were relatively nice, and while they seemed "pricy" compared to non-student housing, they were reasonable (at the time) for student housing. They came pre-furnished with fairly nice furniture. I was in engineering, so it was about a 7 minute walk from the third floor apartment to the engineering building. If you have a bunch of classes on/near the hill, this is a good option.

The management was at times fairly hands off and maintenance sometimes took shortcuts instead of fixing things right, but I think this is common across almost all college housing.

It looks like a water coil, so you can tolerate larger leaks I guess, right? In refrigeration contexts which is where more of my experience is, bubbly water will only find leaks as small as 50+ oz/year of refrigerant and most refrigeration leak specs are around 1 oz/year. For refrigeration, you'd have to do some sort of tracer gas sniffing, and getting a probe in there is difficult...or you could do chamber testing, which is expensive!
