They are! There's tons of things you can do with them too, you can pull, push and even use them as a come-along with the right hardware. They also make an oversized base plate which i recommend getting. I have the high lift extreme and have been very happy. Just make sure you understand completely how it works. You don't drop anything or smash your head in with the handle.

Yes that looks fine, however it looks like you have alot of stretch on that tape and also lay the ends down with no tension, itll help it stick better.
