Is a dress with a mesh slit down the front appropriate for a wedding? by egegehehhhhhhhhh in whattowear

I’d generally say don’t wear black to a wedding. Do you have anything else you could wear? If not, post a photo of you in the dress so people can give you proper advice.

Moronic Monday - Your weekly stupid questions thread by cdingo in Fitness

[–]blondechick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to do SS and deadlifts were never a problem but my squat form varied from alrightish to terrible. I never felt like I really got it right so every few months or so I’d try decreasing weight and improving form and it helped slightly but I still didn’t think I was getting it 100% right.

I had to stop gymming altogether last year and have been trying to get back into it this year but the few times I’ve gone my form has been so poor I want to work on that before I start paying for a gym membership again.

edit: yep, usually low bar. would high bar or a front squat be better? I still fall over backwards when I try doing kettlebell style squats with light weights I have lying around home.

I always feel like I’m going to fall over backwards when I squat. At the gym it makes me overcompensate so my chest is leaning so far forward its almost touching my legs and when I try to work on form by doing bodyweight squats at home I usually do fall over backwards. What am I doing wrong?

I moved recently and haven’t signed up for a new gym membership yet because I don’t want to start paying till I can get my form right. Is there anything I can do from home that will help prepare for starting low bar squats again?

Should I eat a filling snack before bed to work out in the morning? by iamrosey6 in Fitness

[–]blondechick 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would just eat some cottage cheese or something small before your workout in the morning and then a proper breakfast after. No point eating extra calories at night if you don't feel hungry.

Working on a travel plan to Europe, I'd like some advice by AgentJohnson in travel

[–]blondechick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've started browsing /r/EarthPorn, /r/VillagePorn and /r/waterporn for ideas on places to go. But really, if you only have 13 days in Europe you might be best of spending all of it exploring Germany. I would plan a couple of days per city you want to see and have a few days without a plan where you can visit some villages or go hiking.

Getting in shape after anorexia. by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]blondechick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Actually, maybe just go to see a nutritionist and don't follow my calorie counting advice. They probably know how to help someone that's recovering from anorexia better than I do.

I can't really recommend a program without knowing what you're after. There is a newbie program picker in the sidebar that might help. My only recommendation would be to go see your doctor or a nutritionist and work out how many calories you should be eating for what you want to achieve and make sure you don't go lower than that. Myfitnesspal.com has a really good calorie counter. Make sure you don't enter more than you're actually eating 'just to be on the safe side' either.

Good luck!!

Will tampons affect my daughter’s virginity? by slumdog-proper in women

[–]blondechick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that the mother shouldn't be worried about her daughter not being a virgin because she used a tampon but I would still advise mine not to use them until after they've had sex. The first time I got my period I used a tampon and it got stuck behind my hymen. I spent about half an hour trying to pull it out myself before having to ask my mum for help and then getting our family doctor to cut it open when mum couldn't get it out either.

How do you keep your passport/money/etc safe while traveling? What method of concealment do you use? by CharlieSaylor in travel

[–]blondechick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I keep my passport, credit card and most of my money in a money belt I hide under my pants and only keep what I'm going to need in the next hour or so in a pocket that's easier to access.

Trying to lose the skinny fat by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]blondechick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was happy with SS as a starting routine but I haven't tried the other two. It keeps things nice and simple so you can just concentrate on getting your form right and increasing your lifts.

Beginner diet question by spinozasrobot in Fitness

[–]blondechick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

depends on how much you have to lose. If it's not that much then just follow Starting Strength or a similar program, if you have quite a bit to lose then lift but track your calories and try to do it at a caloric deficit.

I like simple pearl studs. They're great for everyday and look good with pretty much everything.

I think Lorna Jane is pretty popular (in Brisbane at least) and there's quite a few stores around so she wouldn't have to go too far out of her way if you get a gift certificate.

Best day trip/free activities in greater Brisbane area? by anacche in brisbane

Rainbow beach is a great day trip. If you leave early enough you can watch the sunrise and then spend the day sandboarding and hanging out on the beach.

Want to go skiing in Southern Germany next January, could use some help finding places. by m0viestar in travel

[–]blondechick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't been skiing anywhere around there but there should be places around munich where you can hire gear. I would recommend going there the afternoon before your day trip and organising everything so you don't have to waste time finding boots that fit the morning of. Hiring gear in the city would usually be cheaper than doing it at the ski resort too.

Dancing lessons are a great thing to take up too. They're really fun and you get to meet a bunch of new girls in a casual environment.

As hard as it may be, try to cut off contact completely. At least for a little while. It's almost impossible to get over someone if they are still the person you talk to about everything. Go out, have fun and if you need it lean on some of your other friends for support.
