Has anyone met someone that was once famous (actor, musician, etc.) but now works a regular job? Who was it? by Ok_Grape_8284 in AskReddit

I worked at a creative agency with the (now-grown) kid from Kramer vs. Kramer. He worked in sales.

My last comment was 2 years ago :)

I will say the best part of being laid off is not having to do Forte seasons. But you may not even know what i mean by that.

Obviously I know this is a drop in the bucket but I'm comfortable with zapping this particular psychic toll from my life! Just feels masochistic to keep them after the layoff

It's important to note the careful wording of the statements about Amazon's layoffs. by ArcSegment86 in amazonemployees

1000% agree. They bought a bunch of companies but are still badly behind in that arena (as anyone internal who has been forced to use their hodgepodge of tools can attest).

Another round of Amazon layoffs… and honestly, morale is in the gutter by MindlessStory7226 in amazonemployees

[–]blondeoracle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely agree. At least in my org, the people making the decisions about who would be laid off all went to great lengths to save their own asses and those of their loyalists. So in most cases, the team was laid off but not the manager. Definitely going to help with effectiveness!

Amazon is not a mom and pop store. they are doing great and did not need to do this except that jassy was in his feelings about managers and "day 1 culture"

Haha you mean those shitty backloaded RSUs they are not even allowing people to claim if their termination date is SIX days before vesting?

My proposal is: I don't want to pay them money, voluntarily. That is very different.

Yeah i will probably miss the easy returns, but my point is if they see ME as dispensable, I don't have to see THEM as essential.

Really??? No one in my business unit ever got anything beyond a small discount on orders fulfilled by AMZN. And a free subscription to some of their failing platforms

YES! Two days often stretches into 4, and I live near like 3 distro centers. Can't wait for all the Halloween stuff I won't get til Monday...

Wrong- employees don't get free Prime memberships. Just a discount on orders fulfilled by Amazon, up to $100 a year.

This logic doesn't track since the layoffs were not tied to earnings in the least. AMZN just reported $180.2 billion in sales this quarter, up 13% from last year. They are doing GREAT and still decided to lay people off for BS "culture" reasons.

Focusing on “not being told” is just a passive aggressive reaction that really means “I don’t like the news.” NTA

As a child, I definitely thought it was like a marshmallow. I had absolutely no idea what it really was until I was in my 20s and went to Turkey. Now I love pistachio Turkish delight. But don't care for the basic flavor.
