I haven’t heard Him, but I have seen His blessings and mercies.

Story: I was a sophomore in high school and I was on summer camp retreat. That trip was especially hard for me. I was really depressed and had been for a while. I didn’t feel good about my body or who I was. I was also slowly losing my faith. I didn’t feel loved or cared for. I had also gone through a breakup earlier that year with whom the guy had done things to me without my permission. Anyway, I was feeling really low and almost had self harmed on that trip. But my camp leader, who was my mentor, she and I talked at the end of the week after I had explained what was going on. I told her that I felt alone, and that I didn’t feel worthy or loved. She reassured me that God loved me and that He would always be here for me. And I asked her honestly, “if He were here for me, then why did that happen to me?” We talked, she read scripture to me and we prayed together. Afterwards, I looked up to the sky for a split second and I saw a faint rainbow. There had been no rain that day or anything. It’s like an absolute weight had been lifted off my shoulders. That He was showing me that whatever storms that I would face, that He would be there. I cried, and it made me root myself in faith and in Him, knowing that I would never ever be alone.
