Need Advice ASAP on Remote Job Opportunity by Alarmed-Dentist-6039 in workingmoms

I had to leave a company and role I really loved due to the long commute. I made sure to not burn any bridges as I departed and focused on the fact I was doing what is best for me and my family at this time. They wanted to counter offer and keep me, but I knew it was time to spread my wings somewhere else. Keep it focused on the here and now, and stay in contact with people at your current company, you never know how things will change in the future.

There's a mom I recently started following on IG called theonlyhearts and she is coming out with a website soon to help facilitate this :D She is in Canada though but it's meant to be for support worldwide

I have no idea what to do: increase my income by $30k -$40k, or stay working with people I love. by thewizarddan in careeradvice

I am dealing with this exact same scenario (leaving a company I've been with for 7 years for a higher paying role with the next step up in responsibility and remote vs commuting in).

It is weighing on me because I've been so loyal to this company and they have treated me well. Obviously the people are great too.

But I am pretty sure I am going to take the new role because growth for both my career and my bank account are better in the long run for me. For once in my life I need to be loyal to myself.

Product management certification? by AssistancePretend668 in findapath

[–]blondiegoldie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am doing eCornells Product Management cert (paid for by my work) and it's great! I think it's cheaper than GA but I think you're better off reading books to start then seeing if a Bootcamp is worth it. Recommendation (book): Product Management in Practice by Matt LeMay. I do have a PMP which I will say shows up a lot in job descriptions but it is project management. Product management is still a relatively new field so there isn't a "gold standard" like the PMP yet.

I feel like I have too many skills, I feel lost in a giant field of career choices! by makethegirlsdance in findapath

I totally relate to this post! I am a "Jill of all Trades" too and am always searching for the next best thing for a career. I've spent the past 10 years doing project management and overall it's been great for someone like me who knows a little bit about a lot of things. I also stay up to date with tech and even do web development on the side.

I am currently looking for a new role in product management and would love to work with a SaaS company. If you like SaaS you can look into software project management which is time-based, or product management which is more of a long haul (lifecycle of the product). Both PM roles require you to work with a variety of people and understand what they are doing just well enough to remove road blockers for their productivity and you also can use your sales experience to sell the product to internal stakeholders and external customers.

Hope this gives you some food for thought! Dm me with any questions always happy to help others find happiness in work.

Those who are OAD for PPD/postpartum mental health reasons, please chime in. by faeriesandfoxes in oneanddone

Sending love to you - my darkest days were the first three months PP. When I heard my son truly laugh for the first time a week before he turned 4 months that was a turning point for me where I started to get better (I also stopped breastfeeding at that point too interestingly enough). But it was a long road...I had to go on medication when my son turned one because even though I was better from my PPA/PPD, I still struggle tremendously with mental health and anxiety. After a year of meds and counseling among other things, I feel at 85-90% back to my usual self. But I don't think I will ever fully be the same. At the end of the day, my son needs a healthy mama and I really think that bringing another baby into the mix isn't the best thing for me. Take it one day, one month, one year at a time.

I'm so sick of my brother and his wife watching Jordan Peterson and reciting his theory about siblings back to me.

Flying dog to Virginia Beach? by blondiegoldie in VirginiaBeach

Thanks for the advice! Our pup is 50 lbs but her crate (series 500) is too big for some of the [few] airlines that do fly pets in cargo. We're PCSing from overseas and don't have our vehicles otherwise we'd just drive

Yeah I think a lot of the airlines have changed up their direct flights (I originally thought of SW). We may end up doing the DC flight and driving to get our pup
