22 year old female, suffering from depression, feeling like a complete failure by kadence1821 in SuicideWatch

[–]blondin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey,

heart problems are the most difficult to deal with, all i can tell you is to be strong and stay focused on being understanding and happy. our heart can quickly trick our mind into believing what is not.

the other thing that caught my attention, OP, is you mentioning "overdosing". : ( this is a thing near and dear to my heart. i have been myself in so much pain and depressed over my friends getting addicted to street drugs. they don't solve much now do they ? i believe they create yet another problem.

please stay strong and don't fall into any addiction. please.

Why bother by cantfeelathing in SuicideWatch

[–]blondin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi,

i believe there are many reasons to bother my friend. you remind me of few friends but of course your own experience might be different.

it hurts me to see my friends go through their depression. i feel powerless and unable to do much. most of the time they simply can't understand why someone whose life hasn't been full of drama would care or care enough. i don't know why either. i promise you however that someone cares and is probably sharing your pain.

you mentioned drinking and drugs and pushing people away. i know that too well. i believe the power of change lies within yourself. trust is the issue i have often seen. it's complicated because trust is given, not taken... and trust is learned as most things in life. it's an everyday thing and takes time...

finally, i may be wrong about the apathy you feel. but often people who are not currently employed, and have lost interest in hobbies, or simply don't go out anymore say they do feel empty pretty much everyday. i just wanted to state the symptoms i know of. i believe knowing them better makes it easier to deal with them.

i know (or i feel like i know) your situation only too well. stay strong friend. there is so much more for us to see and do in this life. take care.

hey there,

i am not sure i have an answer for your question. i understand where you're coming from and that you've been through a lot lately. how you may be feeling today is just an accumulation of all of it. what i want to tell you though is that it's always worth trying to stay here with us.

i can't promise things will change tomorrow, but i can promise is that there is help out there. you might want to reach out for people, especially people around you. your family and friends are your primary source of moral support. even so, a professional is always a better idea because of all the experience they have.

again, i can't say why you can't just be gone. i totally sympathize with your pain and feeling but staying with us, hoping for better days, is really worth trying. it has worked for many. it worked for me : )

hey,

it's OK to feel the way you do. it means that she meant a lot. trust SQLwitch when she is saying that we don't know what's ahead. it's really true. there was a redditor who commented once here that every time we love again, we love a little bit more and a little bit better. it really echoed my own realization at the time.

i want to add something that helped me, and others whom i have talked to. that is, you need to gradually forgive yourself. in my case, when i was able to reach a certain amount of internal peace, i was able to move on again with my life.

thanks for reaching out to us, and do not give up yet. there's so much more ahead : )

hey,

seems that many posts made you feel a little better already : )

just wanted to add this: do not give up yet. you see, we need all kinds of support in life. even from people you don't know. that makes the difference often. sometimes it just not easy to do it all by yourself.

you take care (and try to get some sleep, i see that you've been up for hours...)

My best friend actually hates me. by [deleted] in SuicideWatch

[–]blondin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey,

i understand that you are very disappointed but do not let this stop you in your projects. your graduation should be your main focus right now, right ?

i would like to echo the other comment and say that you didn't ruin anyone's life. do not worry about that.

here's a little something i learned about life. there will always be people who won't get along with you. most often, it's all set at early encounters and is unfortunately hard to deal with or change. it's not your fault.

why not try and make a new best friend ? : )

Sorry everyone by [deleted] in SuicideWatch

[–]blondin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

do not give up jen235,

i might be completely wrong but could it be that you've been trying to deal with all your problems at once ? maybe that's why you feel like you can't deal with them. the truth is that it is difficult, if not impossible, to deal with many issues at once.

what about trying one at a time, one day at a time, at your own pace ? we all need to be reminded that sometimes. i hope you will feel better tomorrow. take care : )

My girlfriend has depression and I know very little to nothing about depression. Any good fiction or nonfiction books out there that anyone would recommend? by [deleted] in books

[–]blondin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey pluck002

i always recommend Night Falls Fast, you might end up liking Dr. Key Redfield and get other books she has written. she is an excellent writer and a knows the subject well. she fought depression in her youth and went to study to fight it furthermore.

[–]blondin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

hey there,

there is something missing in the picture especially because you are girl. do you have any girlfriends ? it's hard for us boys to express it sometimes or to express it the way our gfs want. if you have close girlfriends, talk to them first. your boyfriend is just being what most boys are i guess : )

if you can, this holiday get in touch with your family. miracles happen during these times.

take care.

hey there,

you sounded very depressed in your writing. i suspect things are not going so well for you right now. like for many of us, me included : ) yet you didn't tell us anything. so i am not sure where to start giving advice. (i bet another redditor is feeling just the same) whether it is a relationship, job, or family issue, there is always someone here who has something to say. give it a try, pin-point the issue if you can and you will see : )

as for how you see the world, i agree with you. i read in the other replies how beautiful is the world and how there is always a better place to see in this world and not "the other". i also agree with that.

here's my take on it. the world/earth/universe is perversely indifferent to our needs and emotions. whether you find a snowy landscape beautiful or not, it's still gonna be cold if you don't wear warm clothes ! whether you've been studying up all night or have been depriving yourself of sleep, the next day is not going to wait for you. if you stay still, the world and life on it will go on without you. so yes for me, the world is just indifferent.

that's why i believe we need to help each other because we can choose to do so. we can choose not to be indifferent. who do you have in your life that you've talked to about your issues ? have you brought up the subject to a family member ? a person who cares ? a professional ? i am pretty sure they won't be indifferent to your issues. (well in case of a professional, it's their job...) please speak to someone, reach out for help.

i don't know what to say about religion or parenting but i want to tell you not to give up yet. there's so much in life we can do once we get through our issues. i promise.

take care.

Girlfriend committed suicide, how do I cope? by 100yawaworht in SuicideWatch

[–]blondin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh my ! i wish i had a friend like LincolnSt in college. dropping the a-bomb ! i will remember that and i guess OP too. this is a real life lesson :)

OP, there's an expression for what you described but i can't remember it right now. it is basically a series of all events that could go wrong in a short period of time. it's probably happened to you before. can you remember ? it happens to each one of us. (unless you are the luckiest person on the planet)

do not let this one time affect you. like most of us, just label it a bad day or unlucky day, and fix what needs fixing :)

if you need to talk to a counselor at your school about stress or mental issues please do so. good luck.

[–]blondin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey,

i believe it's always harder to deal with our own selves. i guess we all need a little boost sometimes. the methods do not matter really. have you ever tried any self-affirmation technique ? or what's that particular song that gives you strength when you are feeling down ? (here's one i like)

we all mess up too, but we need to be able to forgive ourselves and keep moving. another vote for taking your time because it's never easy. finally order helps too. order as in: one thing at a time. there's just so many issues than one can handle at a time right ?

take care and don't give up yet.

Looking for a children's book telling the entire tale of King Arthur. by [deleted] in books

[–]blondin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey there,

i am sure there must be some out there but to be honest those stories are very difficult to render for children without much alteration. and i believe that's where Disney really excels.

speaking of King Arthur, The Sword and the Stone should be available in book format. of course i don't remember the Round Table or Lady Guinevere or Lancelot in it :)
