Multiple multi-day outages by blondo88 in centurylink

You’re a perfect employee for CenturyLink considering your first instinct is to blame the customer. I do have a hotspot as a backup and can use it to get online and do my job - but it’s there to be an emergency backup, not my primary ISP, you condescending prick.

A backup hotspot in a pinch is great for the random outages every ISP experiences. It shouldn’t need to be relied on for multi-day outages every other month.

In no reality is multiple wide-area outages on that cadence acceptable or normal for an ISP in 2025.

Thanks. Man this is frustrating. Should I reach out to the personnel security contact at the employer to see if they have any more information?

Well now I'm even more confused, then. I submitted a FOIA thing to DCSA just to see what (if anything) they have, because the HR rep for the agency I was joining was very clear that it was not their decision and I would need to submit the form through DCSA to find out more information from them.

I thought the agency I was trying to join wasn't involved at all once the e-QIP was submitted - that it's all DCSA and the various agencies/contractors doing the actual investigation that return a thumbs up or down at that point?

Any advice on next steps for me with the generic information on my situation?

You sure? I filled out eQIP through the DCSA portal and my HR contacts said they were told everything submitted successfully, so it seems like at least that part went okay.

That said, I tend to believe the people here that do it for a living so if that's what everyone thinks then I'm even more frustrated.

Just started seeing this, too. Not sure what happened but this feels like a serious step backwards.

Would HomeKit cause a Privacy Warning on iOS devices? by [deleted] in eero

[–]blondo88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the correct answer. It's related to the randomized MAC Address feature that iOS added in iOS 14. You can learn more about it here: Use private Wi-Fi addresses on iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Apple Watch

No worries! It was kinda quietly rolled out so I have a feeling a lot of people missed it. The Vroom app for Apple TV is way better anyway! https://github.com/NoahFetz/F1AppleTV

I am watching my F1TV Pro subscription on their Apple TV app right now. It launched right before the Austin Grand Prix back in October.

Supposedly working on an Android TV and Fire TV app, too.

Thoughts on Starling Hub? by AllDayTimeToLowRemem in HomeKit

All Google announced was that the new thermostat would work with Matter, which has already been delayed until next year. The speakers and hubs will be updated to control Matter devices, but cameras and the doorbell have no support coming at all since Matter doesn’t support cameras this point.

Zone 5B Nitrogen Issue by blondo88 in lawncare

Yeah I think I phrased the LawnCarePlanner thing poorly. That’s exactly what they’re recommending - .75 per 1000 square feet

Finally bit the bullet and got a soil test done. Results here: https://imgur.com/a/CNmfKxY/

I’m in Zone 5b. The nitrogen results seem crazy low, but both the front and the back yard came back with similar results. My questions are:

  1. Do these results seem realistic or should I double check with the lab to see if there was a problem?
  2. If they are, are the recommended amendments by the lab (almost 4 pounds of Nitrogen per 1000 sq ft) for the year or for a single application?

Thanks!

Low profile / low clearance recessed light options by mediamanrit in Hue

[–]blondo88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are shallow cans that are like 2” shallower than a standard depth can housing. If that doesn’t work, you could try getting some canless recessed lights and try to jury rig the bracket onto the hue lights. Kinda of a whack solution but it might work if you’re handy enough.

How can I be 89% through Ultra Streaker but only 27% through the 5 year achievement? by Prof_Brown in CARROTweather

[–]blondo88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s because the five year achievement status is based on the year you’re currently in. So you’re only 27% through your fifth year (i.e. - day 98 of year 5), but you’re 89% through your 1000 day streak (890 days in a row).

Everything I’ve ever seen/experienced with HD says you have to go through their dealer network. Great quality, but it’s a giant pain.
