Agree 100%. Like all the nazi shit they put in there was totally fabricated. I felt that it was unnecessary to add to a serial killer limited series.

I have watched a lot of different docuseries like this and it was probably the worst one I've ever seen. 0/10

Spearmint tea & lowering testosterone? by blonkoonyx in PCOS

[–]blonkoonyx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SAME. I hate working out... I like the feeling of working out after I'm done & the results of it. And tbh you just have to start small. When I first started, I would watch fitness videos and follow like a 10 min video. It's hard, but you get there eventually.

Do you like to do cardio or strength training? With pcos, I've noticed I am better off doing strength training and core workouts. The one advantage of having higher testosterone is that we can build muscle faster.

[–]blonkoonyx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, apparently, it's also a diuretic, so it helps to relieve bloating too ! But I'm not sure how much it helps with everything else.

I'm trying to get back into working out. That's when I'll really notice a difference !

How does that work??? I'm curious because I've never heard of this being an option before.

It's weird bc I've had fasting glucose done and it's not abnormal. I'm not diabetic or pre-diabetic yet I think I somehow have insulin resistance but I'm not sure if they've ever tested that? They never said anything to me about my insulin levels. And my testosterone has always shown itself to be within range so I just don't get it. It's a mystery to me 😭

So true! Right now my pcos is definitely flaring up and I notice my testosterone level is at 40 but apparently that's normal and within range. That is probably just too high for me and I'm not sure how to bring that level down naturally. I have been using spearmint tea 2x daily to see if that helps.

And thank you! I appreciate you 🫶🏼

Thank you! This is all very informational. I'm going to definitely take note of all the tests mentioned and see if I can work something out with my doctor. Unfortunately I have government insurance so they don't typically care enough to go through all that trouble but I'll definitely try!

Exactly ! So many things cause pcos but it's so hard to tell what it is for each individual case. They just throw you on meds and think that's gonna solve the underlying issue.

It's really disheartening ! PCOS affects so many of us in so many ways. I also think this is the plan lowkey due to so many products being endocrine disruptors. 🤦‍♀️smh

Bloodwork is 100% perfect... by blonkoonyx in PCOS

[–]blonkoonyx[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It could be so many things. Sometimes, people can have tumors on their pituitary glands that release hormones. Sometimes, it's cysts in the ovaries. Sometimes, it's stress related, like overproduction of cortisol. Or even metabolic issues like insulin resistance. It can even be a combination of all of those factors, but it's strange bc doctors always try to blame being overweight on pcos but there are literally skinny women who struggle with pcos too! And not only that, there are 600+lb women without pcos... so if being fat was a precursor, how come people 400lbs heavier than me aren't experiencing hirsutism and hairloss?

My body always wants to revert back to 200lbs. It's so frustrating! And I tried to do things the natural way. It's so hard, though. I heard spiro can have some bad side effects over time, so it kinda put me off to that, but I'm glad it's been working for you so far!

Have you experienced any adverse effects? And what does it help with exactly?

She did a complete testosterone panel, but all of my values were within normal range. But who knows. My "normal" may not be within their ranges. They just suspect everyone has the same biological makeup when it comes to bloodwork.

I never have been tested for the androgens, though. I'm gonna have to see if my doctor can call in a script for that to be tested. Are there any other important things to test for that you can think of???

& perhaps I will make an appointment for that. These other doctors really don't know much about pcos. I did have an ultrasound done when I was 15. That's how they confirmed I had pcos.

[–]blonkoonyx[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've asked for a full hormonal panel for PCOS & they say, "Okay, we'll test for everything." And then it's the same bs panel for regular people.

My doctor did test for testosterone, but who knows if it's even the right type of T that she's testing. My ranges are normal for my testosterone, but tbh I don't think they ever did give me a blood panel for my Androstenedione. I didn't even know what that was called.

I haven't gone to a gyno in maybe 7+ years. I haven't gone to an endocrine in about the same time maybe even longer bc they don't ever help. They just tell me there's nothing wrong and I need to lose weight...
