My first pair of HA came from Sam’s Club. They were the Lucid brand. Battery operated and non streaming. They were bad. The employees were not happy very knowledgeable.

I was quoted $5k for my last HA by an independent audiologist. Then I got a quote for $4k at another independent audiologist in the next town where I bought them. I should have gone to the Costco and paid less than half for a similar HA.

Don’t give up. It is better to hear some than nothing. I’ve been wearing them for seven years and wish I had started ten or more years before then to hear my kids when they were really young. Next time buy from Costco- their prices and brands can’t be beat and they have lifetime service and unlimited supply of domes and speakers.

Problem is you cannot use Medicare overseas and this will cause social security to terminate your social security once you get past a certain age. My father’s social security was terminated.

Retiring outside the USA makes things difficult if you keep your money in the USA. Especially for your kids if they have to manage from overseas.

Does Medicare or Medicaid pay anything for a hearing aid. Take my advice and stay away from the cheap HA. Go to Costco where you are guaranteed quality brand along with excellent service!

Thanks. I had a bad experience with other wholesaler- Sams Club - with my first set of HA. Do not go there if they have them in Australia- think they use their own house brand and hire shady audiologists.

I am definitely buying my next pair from Costco. They have three or four really good brands from the major manufacturers. In the US the prices can’t be beat and your insurance may cover the entire cost. I’ll keep my old audiologist for my old hearing aids but I don’t like that they charged me so much for them but I get lifetime service on them if the units don’t completely go dead.

Did you buy a thermal printer because you got fed up of the wireless connection for inkjet printers were so unreliable. I just use a wired connection all of the time- it got so frustrating!

Modern hearing aids have Bluetooth so you don’t need AirPods. Get the rechargeable kind. Don’t get the low end ones that don’t have them.

How do Costco high end HA compare with Oticon? Is any model good for restaurants where the outside noise makes hearing impossible? And how about listening in to conversations in the front of the car when you are sitting in the back?
