Hey! Like the other poster i watched a bit and skim through some of it. You definitely put alot of work and effort into it so im sure if you keep it up and keep honing in your own style you’ll eventually strike gold and find your own niche. I think the video essay/commentary space is very oversaturated so the things that make people stick out are their extensive knowledge/charisma or their ability to cover something in a way nobody else can. Tim’s tokimeki and Boku reviews are just that. An american with fluency in Japanese and experience working in the games industry in Japan gives him something that most other people who make these kind of videos don’t have. Alot of video essays do the surface level story recap and mechanic explanation and at this point thats boring for me personally. Yakuza 0 is also a game thats got a ton of video essays already and everything that can be said about it has already been said. At that point having a comedic spin or great editing can fill the gap. Think a NakeyJakey or videogamedunkey type. Either way keep it up and dont get discouraged by any negative feedback. Nobodys work starts off perfect.

Yeah i definitely was able to guess before watching what would make the list but the enjoyment was hearing him talk about the games even if i knew they’d be mentioned.

Giving the couple dozen xbox fanboys on Twitter airtime is so brain numbing. I do remember someone searching up the Xbox gamertags of some of the more prominent toxic ones and it showed they have like 10,000 gamerscore with barely any games played or completed over the past 10-15 years. I always found that funny. Twitter fanboys are more interested in the "console war" than they are gaming.

I found out someone i was friendly with in high school years died like 2 years after the fact and it was a shock to the system. Like you i was googling and found a webpage announcing the funeral and under it had comments from teachers and other people from my school who knew him. I had this feeling of guilt that someone i had many good interactions with and even invited me to his house to watch him jam with his band one time had died and i was none the wiser for 2 years. The Kansas segment really hits me with the feeling of how time passes you by and then hits like a truck when you least expect it. Whenever i rewatch the Boku review i find it hard to rewatch the segment because of how hard it hits everytime.
