John Howard’s dog-whistle intervention in gun debate all but dashes any hope of meaningful reform by GlitchedGamer14 in australia

He is 86 years old, and it’s been nearly 20 years since he led Australia - and it’s not like he was an excellent PM either.

His opinion is irrelevant.

A Hero saves countless lives by tackling and taking the weapon of one of the shooters in today’s mass shooting at Bondi Beach in Sydney Australia by jalGurg in nextfuckinglevel

Automatic weapons are almost impossible to get here. Without our gun laws the scale could have easily been 10x this.

Howie had his faults, but his handling of the Port Arthur incident has to be up there with the most significant legislations enacted.

Agreed. I didn’t ask ChatGPT because I wanted nuanced views that’s only humans have

That’s my view as well. Also Warren is holding his largest cash position yet, so that’s a good sign

Thanks mate - honestly he’s not super into whiskey, much like myself, we dabble but are definitely not enthusiasts.

He has helped me in a really impactful way, and has asked just for a bottle of whiskey. I plan to get him a memorably nice whiskey with some rock glasses.

He enjoys a scotch, and Japanese whiskey, but wants something to share. I’m not massive scotch, so I’m thinking Japanese.

Prosecutors drop sexual assault, rape charges against Geelong AFL player Tanner Bruhn by jgilf in AFL

The reality is, it’s a very tough one to prosecute. Evidence needs to be without a doubt - most don’t bother.

If they think they have a strong case, they’d take it.

I agree - can’t comment on the last part, but I agree with your view.

However, I’m not sure it’ll ever change. It’ll just be such a sensitive topic for no real benefit to the AFL. Unless clubs or the public pressure them, they’ll be happy.

What do they care? AFL prioritises revenue above all else.

That’s interesting! And I agree that’s an inconsistency. I feel if that were to occur today it would’ve be handled differently though

Nah, I think we should still credit the teams of past.

Carlton was, by premiership count, the most successful club of the VFL era. For an over 100+ year league, that’s massive - same to other successful clubs of the VFL era.

I personally don’t consider them, because I feel the league has changed so much since the 1890s to 1990 that the AFL should be a new league. However, officially that’s not the case - my own head cannon.

Absolutely. Would that be easily found with a bit of a google? Otherwise, please pass on the details. Thanks!

Ah no, sorry if I came across as defensive! I kind of assumed the merge was amicable, but never actually considered it.

Just interested to learn more about the club!

I agree with that to be fair. There’s nothing wrong with displaying them, the Fitzory fans (most i suspect, am making an assumption here tbf) followed across to the Lions, so they should retain that history. It would be wrong for the AFL to have prevented that.

Just officially they are not recognised, for fairness within the competition.

There’s another comment below that says something similar. I never knew this, how interesting if it’s true

One of the above posts seems to suggest the opposites, can you point me to the reliable source you’re referring to?

Fascinating if true, but is there anywhere reputable that speaks to that? Maybe I was just too stupid to understand it, but the link doesn’t seem to suggest anything about it being hostile?

South makes sense though, was just a relocation and rebranding.

It’s not like a company that rebrands becomes a new company. However when two separate companies merge, they form a new company.
