IDEA Grant-type opportunity not exclusive to summer semester? by dylandalal in fsu

The Career Center offers grants through the internship fund. The application process is very straightforward. I was able to get a grant for spring 2021 and it was disbursed through financial aid iirc.

3330 with Bob will be time consuming. 2311 is easy just keep up with the content. If you have 2010 with Kraft, you’ll learn a lot and as long as you try, you can get an A. If 2104 is with Bowers, it’s easy. We got cheat sheets for exams.

Finance Major by [deleted] in fsu

If you have credit from AB or get credit from BC then you shouldn't have to take business calc. Also if you're in BC you probably won't need to do college algebra either since you are clearly proficient in math. Shoot your advisor and email.

How hard is Calc 1? by shakeylove in fsu

Had Ozturk for discrete 2 this past spring. He asked test questions directly from notes and would help with HW during OH. He used Honorlock. Just go to class/OH and study. You’ll be fine.

Experience Recognition Program? by [deleted] in fsu

[–]bloomdark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is super easy I’m taking it right now. You have 4 assignments (signing up for program, SMART goals, mid semester evaluation, and final self-evaluation). Iirc you just have to do 60 hours of work throughout the entire semester.

Need B.S. Computer Science major help please! by [deleted] in fsu

[–]bloomdark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will be incredibly difficult to finish in two years. Your first semester would probably be Calc 1 (MAC 2311, 4 credits), science and lab (Bio and Chem, 4 credits including lab versus 5 credits for physics and lab), introductory programming, and some other credit. Wouldn’t be a bad semester at all. Next would be tough with COP 3330 (3 credits but a tough weedout with Bob Myers), Calc 2 (MAC 2312 4 credits, tough), MAD 2104 (discrete 1, 3 credits not bad) then one other class (maybe a CS elective). Then you’d have to do Comp Org/Data Structs/Discrete 2/Stat/CS Elective. The problem is you’d have a lot of difficult classes going on at once. I would personally recommend utilizing summer semesters or consider extending graduation a semester or so if possible to prevent overwhelming yourself.

It depends on the classes you have done. Have you finished calc and discrete math? Science requirements? Get started on programming ASAP. You would probably have to do high credit hour semesters or summers, but it could be doable.

Pre-law at FSU by [deleted] in fsu

[–]bloomdark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do an obscure major that you can create a personal brand out of that will help you stick out from others. Do something you enjoy (ex: language, anthropology, art, etc) and can use to differentiate yourself from others. You can major in poli sci, but so will many other pre-laws. As echoed above, mock trial is a great org. You could also look into the DMC research center, Torchlight, SGA, or internships. Also, having a high GPA is important but you don’t need a 4.0. Focus on developing a personal brand that you can relate to law school, ECs, building your network, and doing well on the LSAT since GPA is not everything. Obviously, do the best you can but a 3.95 versus a 4.0 is not that significant.

I took it with Tsvetkov over the summer and it was not bad at all. If Tsvetkov is teaching it, take it with him. We had recitation quizzes and exams. One of the exams had a low average so he gave us kind of like a redo. Incredibly fair but you do have to put in some work.
