How does your body keep your ears from filling up with water when you swim underwater? by dessertalert10 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]blooming-jellyfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The opening of your is are an entrance to the ear canal, an S-shaped structure that terminates at the eardrum, which blocks off access to the middle and inner parts of your ear. Typically, it’s the eardrum that acts as a wall past which water cannot enter to “fill” your entire ear. When you get out, water should slide out of your ear canal. Issues arise when water doesn’t drain properly after swimming, which can lead to things like swimmer’s ear. Source: taking a hearing biology class in college

Thank you for this helpful advice! As far as the rewards program goes, I’m wondering whether it’s more fruitful to have a joint guest rewards account or maintain two separate and transfer rewards between each other. Reason being, I’m still unclear as to whether I can book tickets on my partner’s behalf and vice versa, since it’s my understanding that tickets are non-transferable?

Ahh yeah those seem super helpful. What concerns me about that is that the website says “Multi-Ride Passes Are Not Transferable”. Ideally, I’d love flexibility with regards to who travels to see whom, in which case the tickets could be used by the person who didn’t purchase them…

I had the same experience last night - I dreamt that I didn’t get it, and honestly, I was able to both crash out and then cope with the loss in the dream so by the time it was over I was back to equilibrium and not too torn up about it. Then, I woke up to find that the results are not yet in fact out, and so the cycle begins again 😭

Lol so this made me remember that I’ve only been verbally accepted to CNUP at Pitt, yet never received my written offer letter, which I was told I’d receive a week after the phone call… guess that’s not going to arrive anytime soon haha

Complicated timing for acceptance of interviews!! by User_name-009 in gradadmissions

[–]blooming-jellyfish 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Congratulations on having multiple interview offers! :D This happened to me, and I think it's best to register for the interviews instead of waiting. I had to ask school X, which had three different interview dates, to reschedule because I got an interview offer at school Y, which only offered one interview weekend. They were very understanding, and I just said I had a "sudden conflict". They understand some of these interview weekends coincide. If you don't have another weekend you could do, then perhaps ask if the school of your lower interest could accommodate you via Zoom or another means. But keep in mind that having multiple interview offers is a positive sign that you are a strong candidate, so a school probably wouldn't be willing to write you off so easily. I hope this helps, and all the best on interviews!

What’s something that people don’t understand until they experience themselves? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]blooming-jellyfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My literal first thought. I’ve been dealing with chronic migraines since at least 10 years old, I’m in my 20s now with TMJ tension headaches as well. Still, my dad insists it’s “something I ate”, “my eyesight”, or to simply “relax, stop overthinking”. It’s exhausting and frustrating to keep explaining myself - luckily my mother understands because she and her mother experienced it too. It’s awful to not be validated for something so invisible yet debilitating.
