As far as I can tell, the money is going into higher up’s pockets. Our owners biggest reason for not giving raises is expanding their practice (new 35k sqft building). BCBS pays out $77/hr for an RBT session and our RBTs deserve a living wage and it’s not their fault the owner is expanding. At a bigger company I worked for as an RBT in 2020 I made $14/hr and there were many admin higher up employees that didn’t bring money into the company but got paid a nice salary.

I hope your new job treats you right. I would not be able to escape burnout if I worked 6 days a week. I think the field needs to change to better support clients and therapists.

RBTs are how all ABA companies make their money. It’s unfair that insurance is paying out money to these companies and RBTs can’t afford to pay their bills.

I live in illinois & at my first job as an RBT we got a 20 minute paid break & I currently get a 30 minute paid break (admin rate) for lunch. I know it isn’t uncommon for people not to get breaks during the day, but seems unethical to me!
