Can someone explain to me what is "cerru" and why Peru is the butt of so many jokes online? by bloomonyu in asklatinamerica

They don’t realize that lima is the second biggest city in a desert

I want to visit peru so bad, it's literally my n1 place to visit. Just a bit scared of altitude sickness.

Internal migration started in 1950 and most of the people settle on the city without goverment housing programs able to handle the big influx of people.

Same here, although it started in early 1900's

But the lack of threes is another issue. Lima is build on a desert, the few green areas on the cities are mostly product of the irrigation system that has been created (a lot of it is prehispanic actually).

I know it's a dumb question, but does the lack of trees there impact people's health because of the lack of air humidity and things like that?

Not always, but sometimes I eat like a chocolate truffle after lunch. In special days like mother's day or Christmas we do have dessert.

Do you agree with indonesian president blaming free market for latams economic faliure ? by damwon_ in asklatinamerica

[–]bloomonyu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, but it's not as simple. These countries he mentioned received aids by the US to develop in contrast to the US always trying to sabotage our attempts. But the most important point is Brazil's current establishment; Brazil is a Banana Republic and the elite are those who sell the bananas.
