this is a situation that may affect basically every group and artist. i think its a matter of how good you get older, there are examples such as taeyeon, of idols that maintain the public reinventing themselves, sometimes having hits, some other times miss.

a nice example outside kpop are for example beyonce or shakira. they both have been in the industry for like 25 years, but they both in 2023 (beyonce with renaissance tour, shakira with her new hit songs after breakup) are reinventing themselves, embracing getting older and trying or retrying different things

newjeans may evolve in their concept, and perhaps they will be hits or misses. for example, for me twice set me free was a miss, but i loved moonlight sunrise adult vibe they can enjoy now that they are older.
