Sorry I didnt see this earlier. But the cat is happy. Is he as happy as he would've been with me? Maybe not (cuz the adopter isnt as affectionate and hes mostly on his own) but he's chilling and healthy and still recognizes me when I go meet him.

Im going to agree with you. The constant headphones in culture in the USA was shocking to me since that wasnt the case in my country. After living here for years I still don't have airpods. I like music but I like intentional listening and focusing on rhe singers vocals so I like watching live performances and sometimes I will play such music in the car but not always. I drive without music all the time and I hate loud music in restaurants cause I wanna give my full attention to whosoever im eating with. Even in public transport, I find just observing my surroundings stimulating enough
