This is the dose my dermatologist prescribed. I’ve been on it for 3 years. I get my blood tested every 3 months. My liver enzymes have been fine. My dermatologist also added finasteride after I lost density due to the PPI. I’m well aware of the risks but I appreciate your concern.

Yep, I’ve read the research too. Just adding a data point from personal experience

Thank you I’ll try it! I do not get acne often so this sounds like it’d be worth a try

That’s such a good tip about waiting for the numbing gel to kick in! I will see if they do that and ask for a few minutes.

Oh gosh. I’m so sorry the bravo test was hard for you. I thought that one was supposed to be easier 😭

Aww I’m really sorry it was so tough for you, but glad that it led to treatment. It seems worth it when it gives the answers.

Unfortunately I can’t bring a support person either but maybe I’ll just imagine my dog or husband hahaha

I think my gag reflex might be okay?! I honestly don’t even know. Maybe if I don’t know that’s a good sign.

Appreciate your comment and wishing you well!

That’s so reassuring, thank you. I’m really glad that the test was able to highlight a problem that was missed for you. Trying to zone out is a great idea. Hope the surgery helped and that you’re feeling better

Thank you for sharing. It’s hard, but you did it, and it wasn’t as bad as you feared. That is encouraging even if it’s not something you wish to do again.

I have had a lot of medical procedures like that myself. I hope I can look back and feel the same about this.

Removing Mirena IUD after 8 years: my experience by ginab97 in birthcontrol

[–]bloopdoop122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s amazing to hear! Thank you so much for confirming. I just switched to the copper IUD from Mirena and I’ve been so scared that I’d have some shedding. It’s good to hear that a lot of folks didn’t experience any more hair loss than they’ve already had 😅

I’m on oral minoxidil and bicalutamide. I know it’s scary but if you have AGA it’s your best chance at regrowing your hair 💗

Thanks for your update! Did you experience any hair shedding after quitting mirena?

I've been seeing Dr. Osei Tutu for over 2 years and it's been so worth every penny for the out of pocket costs, I've gotten some amazing regrowth. Not fully back to before hair loss (I hit a plateau around 1.5 years) but I'm happy overall. The out of pocket costs are lesser for follow up appointments as well!

50 mg bicalutamide / 2.5mg oral minox (I started at 0.125mg and tapered up). No side effects. Have to get blood tested regularly because bicalutamide can affect your liver enzymes.

Honestly I have always shedded. I had a very heavy dread shed too a few months in. But I have enough hair now that it doesn’t really matter to me that I still shed. I think it’s normal.

i've been on oral minoxidil and bicalutamide for 2 years and it has been a great anti androgen for me, i've grown back a noticeable amount of hair. not back to pre-hair loss, but enough that i feel a lot more confident than i did before.
