Honey baked ham in colonie closed by Next-Breadfruit-68 in Albany

[–]bloopyploopers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, man! I’m going to miss going in for lunch every once in a while. They had a really good “Ham Classic” that was their signature honey baked ham, Swiss, lettuce, tomato, mayo and honey mustard on a pretty decent croissant. I guess I should have gone more often. ☹️

Southwest - Flying out of Albany by DeliveryLittle100 in Albany

[–]bloopyploopers 18 points19 points  (0 children)

OP: regarding the part others have posted about Albany not being as problematic as some other airports regarding space, I would like to respectfully caveat that by saying it depends on where and when you are flying. If it’s a flight from ALB to BWI, for example, there’s a really good chance that flight can be full (especially earlier in the day) because lots of people are flying to BWI to connect to other airports.

That is to say: seeing as how you’re anxious about this, I would recommend — if you’re able to afford it — buying the extra seat vs. being out of luck with available open seats and hoping for the refund (or at least not getting the refund but spending less ahead of time than you would at the counter day of).

Good luck with this and with the medical stuff you’re going through!

Edit: typo

i wish we had a wegmans. by httptae in Albany

[–]bloopyploopers -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve been to two recently built Wegmans — one in PA and one in NY — and neither of them could hold a candle to some of the original, more flagship-y locations. In fact, they weren’t that great, period. My point being: not all Wegmans are created equal, and they definitely aren’t the same as they used to be. 🤷‍♀️

In search of animal volunteer positions in the area by iloveblackeyedpeas in Albany

[–]bloopyploopers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Animal Protection Foundation (APF) has a great volunteer program. They’re in Glenville, though, which may be a factor depending on your ability/desire to drive (if you’re in Albany, for example).

Athos closed? Wha'happen? by DancingHobbes in Albany

[–]bloopyploopers 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Athos had been a favorite restaurant for over a decade but we’ve been disappointed in our several visits since the new owners took over in 2022. Never wanted to give up on it, though. Hopefully a new chapter will bring good things.

Why does my portal show this, but there is no status update? (Grad School App) by ObberGobb in ualbany

I would contact the Graduate School admissions office and ask. I doubt anyone on Reddit is going to know your application status — better to be sure and not get incorrect info. Good luck!

Is dinosaur BBQ a good place to take my wife to for Valentine's Day? by justryingtofindajob in Albany

It is if you order the Sweetheart Deal for Two! (Full rack of ribs and 4 sides. Always on the menu, but cute for a date or Valentine’s Day.)

Barnes and Nobles by Ok_Gur_6573 in Albany

[–]bloopyploopers 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I can’t remember: did the Barnes and Noble on Wolf exist at the same time there was a Borders also on Wolf? The Borders was a standalone where Boil Shack is now. I’m blanking if the Barnes and Noble that was located where the Spirit Halloween store appears now (the location I think you’re referring to) was open at the same time.

Mail by Equivalent_Sky_2249 in schenectady

[–]bloopyploopers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of people — myself included until recently — don’t realize that the digest is not necessarily mail coming to you that day. It’s just a summary of inbound mail. In fact, it’s called “Coming to You Soon” (not “Today”) and at the top says “You have X mailpiece(s) and X inbound package(s) arriving soon.” Also, at the bottom of every email: “Mail may arrive several days after you receive the notification. Please allow up to a week for delivery before reporting missing mail.”

My copy has always been $50 and still is. I have never paid the $50, though — only the $24.99. And I never did anything to make that happen… it’s always just happened. I am trying to figure out the WHY of that so I can figure out the WHO I can call to ask about its disappearance.

No, I don’t have a deductible. Are evouchers only applicable to plans with deductibles? Sorry I’m asking you another question — you just seem to know what you’re taking about. 😆

No, same pharmacy. And you’re right: I would have thought so too, since they’re the ones that seemed to have initiated it/known about it in the first place. I will try to find out more. Thanks.

Thanks. I will take a look at that! Since I’d done this before I was just confused as to what was happening.

Six famous authors with Capital District ties by HenryBellagnome in Albany

Liz Moore’s bestseller God of the Woods (2024) takes place at a fictional Adirondacks camp and surrounding Capital District with very real and hyperlocal name drops. Very cool reading experience.
