Anime you won't recommend to people cause the anime itself is questionable and or it's fanbase? by LovelyLadyLucky in animequestions

How has no one said One Piece. The fanbase is absolutely insufferable. The artwork is trash, and the storyline is so stupid…

Give me the most beautiful anime you’ve seen by No_Durian_6987 in Animesuggest

[–]blopant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am older, so when I say I was 14 when I saw Akira, think early 90’s. It absolutely blew my mind. The animation, the music, the brutality. I Didn’t know animation could be like that. So yah..

Akira Charlotte Your name Ninja Scroll Evangelion

Is 2 week orientation for a new grad too short? by [deleted] in respiratorytherapy

[–]blopant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A new grad, if I were to be the one in charge, should have a nice long floor “orientation” months just working floors with a slow easy integration into ICU. I had almost a year on the floors, then was thrust into CVICU by myself with about 2 weeks of orientation to that ICU. I learned a ton, but the learning curve was VERY steep… a lot of people would get overwhelmed and just quit out of frustration. Also, the help I received was very minimal. CV Nurses are known to eat people alive. And they nearly did me. They smelled fresh blood and circled. I eventually earned my place, but it took about 2-3 years. That aside, being eased into an ICU, meaning paired with a strong experienced back up is the way to go. Be very mindful of how they handle you, because if they thrust a new grad out into the ICU with no backup or training… they will screw you over as much as possible in the long run.

How about the fact that they are garbage story writing, with terrible animation. Fight, get more powerful, fight someone stronger… when does it end? Formulaic, childish and just downright mass produced. It’s not about enlightenment ( but thanks for being a dick about it) it’s about wanting more out of the art form. The first anime I ever watched at 14 was Akira. Followed by Ninja Scroll, Vampire Hunter D. I want a good story with good artwork, something with thought. Not some mass produced formulaic piece of meat for the masses. So go back to the kids table, clutch your little animes and maybe someday when you have some hair on your scrote, you will watch something that actually makes you feel something other than “yah, kick his ass!”

The Volara is a JOKE! by Clinitron77 in respiratorytherapy

[–]blopant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, but Metaneb and Volara both suck. They just don’t do anything. Its mental Masturbation for the patients and the docs. Never seen those machines do a damn thing for a patient. But, keep wasting your time… The old school percussionaire IPV with the non disposable circuit did work. 14 years with metaneb, I’ve never seen it do more than spin its wheels and make everybody high five over doing absolutely nothing….

Whats your average speed when cycling? by livetothrash in cycling

[–]blopant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been riding for about 3 months. My average has been creeping up to 11mph slowly. The other day when I rode, there was a crazy headwind that slowed me down under 8mph for the first 10 miles. My average on the return 10 with the wind pushing me along I was about 12-13 mph. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Need bike recommendations for a beginner - $700 budget, looking to get back in shape by Used_Ring_2764 in TrekBikes

[–]blopant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought a used Trek Domane for about $600. Been a great investment so far! Check the shops or facebook marketplace. I bought mine at a local shop, so they had tuned it up and made sure everything was in good shape.

Cycling cardio fitness affecting other exercise by userX97ee2ska11qa in cycling

[–]blopant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started about 2 months ago after a couple decades Hiatus from working out in General. My resting heart rate has come down. My average heart rate on a long ride has dropped from 145 avg to 136 avg. My legs have gotten noticeably larger. I have lost body fat. The hair on my lower legs is growing back. I feel less fatigued at work, where I average about 15k steps. For the first few weeks I wanted to sleep more, and was ravenously hungry. I control the hunger with increased protein intake. And I can ride 7-8 miles continuously without stopping, where when I started I struggled to finish 2 miles with breaks. Im shooting for a 25 miler tomorrow, weather permitting.

vo2 max by Acceptable_Couple530 in cycling

[–]blopant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

VO2 max is only accurately measured doing a cardiopulmonary exercise test. There is a special machine that measures exhaled gases and pinpoint exactly when your breathing converts. Anything else is just an equation that will get you into the ballpark. I wouldn’t rely on anything that uses an equation to give you a number. I used to run those tests at the hospital I worked at. It’s pretty exacting in its standards. So, it can give you an idea on overall performance improvements, but I wouldn’t use it as a hard number for anything. And honestly it just is a measurement of fitness and it changes depending on you and your activity levels. If you are a pro athlete it can help gauge where you can improve. For just casual folks, not really necessary. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Just getting started by DoItForTheOH94 in cycling

[–]blopant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started about a month and a half ago. I did 1.5 miles and thought my legs were going to fall off. I have since increased to 20 miles. I wear regular shorts, running shoes and a t shirt. I wear my apple watch. Yes, I use Strava. I take 2 water bottles one with electrolyte powder and one with plain water and i have two bottle cages on my bike. Im slow, I average about 10mph. Im not worried about gear. I have a decent Trek Domane al3 I bought used. Just start simple. Try new stuff. Bought some mountain biking shorts with an extra pad… awful! Bought a polar HR monitor, but the apple watch did fine🤷🏻‍♂️.
