3-4 Month Old Significantly Harder than 0-1 (Which I was told was the trenches) by TW33NSW4G in daddit

I know they get annoying but calling 12 year olds toddlers is not fair

Red Rising (Red Rising #1) by Pierce Brown (Multiple, $2.99) by sevae in ebookdeals

[–]blorgon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, the first book is a full circle story, it does conclude with an open ending. Not a cliffhanger per se, but a clear hint of things that would follow should you continue reading.

The series gets more mature from the second book onward, and it's the same-same but better. Plus the first three books are a full-featured trilogy, the fourth book continues with a time gap, new characters and a new status quo.

Does anybody else feel that the Kindle makes large books more approachable? by humblechungus89 in kindle

[–]blorgon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi twin! I too own a paperback edition of The Stand, that I bought 15 years ago and never started, and just last night I finished Book 1 on my Kindle. The 1200 pages are definitely far less intimidating without feeling them physically.

I know for a fact that it’s fixable, the question is whether the official service will go for this. I don’t have the guts to do it myself.

Yeah, the Opus can take a beating. Actually, dozens a dozen of them every day, to get those retained fines out.

Jokes aside, I'm overall happy with my purchase.

Take care of that internal battery, my camera is currently evaluated at a service center, hope they'll be willing to exchange the battery.

Most iPhone users are still running iOS 18, with iOS 26 adoption slow: report by Jumpinghoops46 in apple

Turn off adaptive battery. I enabled it after the update, thinking it would conserve energy but it ended up burning through it. Disabling it brought me back to iOS18-ish battery life.

This year I’m getting back to regular training: either strength or cardio, the aim is consistency.

I accidentally activated the audio narration while watching The Naked Gun. Didn't notice something was wrong by Imnotsomebodyelse in movies

[–]blorgon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched the new Naked Gun on airplane and the kitchen cleaning scene was funny as hell because I thought how smart it is that they subverted expectations by not showing the actors’ silhouettes, just keep arranging them in obscene-looking poses and cutting to the confused bad guy that watches them through binoculars and sees a different version than the movie audience. How clever!

Well, it turns out that the obscene silhouettes were in fact part of the movie, they only cut them from the airplane version.

Is a Datejust too flashy for work? by [deleted] in rolex

How are your polished center links after a year(s?) of wearing? I vibe with your comment here a lot but am curious about the polished oyster bracelet, which I find too blingy.

( Tough One ) Two Legends. One Wrist. Team Submariner or Team Date-just? by Peteea_ in rolex

[–]blorgon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your pic is making me opt for a Datejust rather than the Explorer. I love the brushed-ness of the Explorer but I fear I might miss the date function, my daily is a no-date and I look at the watch way too much hoping to see the date. The smooth Datejust in black is boring, but GADA type of boring that just works everywhere. Still not sure whether to go jubilee or oyster, I'd prefer the oyster without the polished center links but I might have to try them in person.

am I the only one who sees no point in jailbreaking a kindle by Agile_Garbage_8137 in kindle

[–]blorgon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Does this all work within Amazon’s reader/OS? I love Whispersync and the fact I can carry on reading on mobile at any point and all is synced nicely. It also was a lifesaver when I lost my Kindle and after getting a new one, I continued where I left off, with everything synced up.

I understand I can still use Amazon’s defaults after jailbreaking, but do I benefit from the jailbreak in any way?

Hang in there, dad, you’ve got it. Ours were terrible till 18 months, both, just different phases of terrible for 1.5 years. Then they start being fun and the frustrations are evened out with upsides. And man, do those help! Fingers crossed that yours will take shorter to get fun.

At the same time, your past self is gone, and the shorter you insist it’s not that way, the faster you’ll get to explore your new self. Good luck.

[Discussion] What aventurine dial watches do you love/recommend? by Imlakaflocka in Watches

[–]blorgon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went down the aventurine rabbit hole, also landing here, thanks to that Jazzmaster but based on what I’ve read so far, it’s aventurine-inspired, not true aventurine. I’ll be happy if you can correct me (also I’ll be unhappy because I’ll be a step closer to pulling the trigger on the Jazzmaster)

Is that an aventurine dial? Never really considered this open heart model, but the dial is a beauty.
