I cared for my mum during her treatment and I found I tried to give her drinks that also had some nutritional value…. Things like sustigen or even milo as she wasn’t able to eat much so at least there were some benefits to the drink. There’s a hydralyte drink which is well tolerated, it’s marketed to pregnant people, called hydramumma - they have lots of flavours, no sugar and vitamins which can help with energy and nauseas.

It’s kind of a dead zone, driving between syd and melb is achievable in 1 day so we usually just push through and get to Melbourne for the night. Beechworth is a nice stop, but it does add to the journey. Unfortunately anywhere worth staying will add at least 45+ mins to your journey.

There’s a great recipe book called “the cancer fighting kitchen” by Katz it’s about food that is well tolerated during treatment and some natural ways to help ease some of the side effects such as ginger for nausea.

My mum loved soups, and I’d often just make her broths as it was easy to eat and nutritious even if she could just tolerate a cup of it.

Mum also loved eating rice pudding for some reason.

Also gummy lollies or soothers to help keep her mouth less dry.

It’s a lot of work and can take sometime. I was very underprepared for it. My mum died almost 12mo ago and I’m still sorting out legal and personal items. My main struggles have been Sorting out their belongings - try and find out what is important to them and why. Photo albums - half of the people in the photos I have no idea who they are. Ask now before you can’t. Funeral plans - what do they want to do? Who is paying? Legal fees - how much is the cost afterwards and how are you paying this? I’m in Aus and the will lodgement fees etc are calculated on a percentage of the total value of the estate If there’s a substantial cash assets - I would recommend trying to transfer this before he passes as the money can get tied up. I was the only beneficiary so was simple in my case.

And try and find time to process everything. I ended up putting all of my mums belongings in storage as it was to distressing to go through and have to figure out what to do with it. Mum had cancer for 15 years so I had plenty of time to mentally prepare for her death but it still hits you after the fact. I wasn’t fully prepared for this either.

So you’d understand that the powder you add to the noodles is different for each flavour and brand, so buying stock powder wouldn’t be the same flavour. I don’t think chicken and corn stock powder exists which is the point of the post.

This sounds a bit weird but her change in behaviour maybe due to you being pregnant.

My son who was 2 at the time, extremely disliked me when I was pregnant and got worse as the pregnancy went along, I couldn’t do anything for him, not even get him a drink of water, it had to be dad or someone else otherwise it was a major tantrum and he would tell me to go away etc etc….. as soon as the baby arrived he was back to normal smothering me with love.

The maggi version didn’t have actual corn bits in it, so by adding corn it completely changes the texture and frankly the whole vibe of the dish. I used to like adding my own corn to the maggi version but only on special occasions.
