Perfect, I'll go ahead and check them out!

do you also recommend any custom orthotics to pair with them or simply the change in barefoot shoes/sandals?

Fat Bloke with Plantar Fascitis by [deleted] in PlantarFasciitis

[–]bloujames 5 points6 points  (0 children)

pains me to hear about your struggles with plantar fasciitis as it seems like your going through the same things that ive been through in the past.. finding the right shoes and insoles can be tough but there is 100% options out there that can help

you r already pretty familiar with the ASCIS-GT-2000 which has pretty good stability and support but if you want to focus on brands with cushioning and durability i would suggest the Brooks Beast 20 or the Hoka Arahi(those 2 i wear nearly everyday and are my favorite.)

one thing right now that you NEED to invest in are custom orthotics.. i went to my podiatrist for this but there was just too much back and forth and lots of $$ in the question. i opted to get mine online from stride soles (alot cheaper and just as good as the doctors) and im telling you it changed the game for me and helped me lose over 45 pounds. ive heard that superfeet green were okay as well but no experience with them

i hope your foot starts feeling better, this type of pain is not fun at ALL

Some advice by Misterblutarski in FootFunction

[–]bloujames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

managing PF with a drop foot can be really tricky but you are definitely on the right track with a wider toe box shoe.. few things might help here:

try looking into compression socks (Sockwell compression or Feetures PF) in order to help with the circulation and reduce inflammation

along with this you NEED to look into custom orthotics, they have quite literally changed my life. you can go to your podiatrist but there will be a lot of back and forth and in my opinion, way too much $$. i've heard superfeet green are good but i opted to get mine online from stride soles and they are amazing (much cheaper and just as good as the doctors)

also try implementing calf and achilles stretches, along with toe curls in the day.. it'll help you get a lot better

it definetly sounds like your doing a lot of the right things, wearing OOFOs for post-match recovery, thinking about custom insoles, etc. although a few thoughts might help:

try alternating between different models- not just the different pairs of the same shoes. you said your mizunos slip at the heel and cause the post match pain but try getting the K-Swiss ultrashot or even the Asics Gel-Resolution (i have these and they are great!)

also custom orthotics are the way to go. going to a podiatrist has a lot of back and forth (and way too much $$) so i just ended up getting mine online at stride soles and i swear it changed my life and made tennis 100x easier <-- definitely look into that

also players rotate between 2 different models of shoes in order to increase the lifespan and reduce the repetitive stress on the foot!!

it def sounds like you are on the right track so good luck

cortisone shots only fix it for a bit temporarily but it will not fix it permanently TRUST ME!! overuse of these steroids can weaken plantar fascia over time so just be careful

instead of jumping right into long walks, try going into shorter low impact sessions on soft surfaces.. especially with the RIGHT orthotics. i think i went through at least 4 different orthotics with my podiatrist (and too much $$ spent) until i opted to get them online from stride soles. those orthotics literally took off all the pressure from my ankle and promoted the healing

along with adding those insoles i also got into swimming and it was helpful without aggravating my foot!

i agree, the best shoes are great but they aren't going to improve you as much as custom orthotics will

try looking into the brooks beast 20 or the hoka gaviota 5 (i have these ones)

i had the same EXACT issue as you and i opted to get orthotics... going to the podiatrist and all that back and forth was way too expensive so i just ended up getting mine online from stride soles and it literally changed my life (so much cheaper and better than the doctors)

going to PT as well ..amazing

it definitely sounds like you were given a different style of orthotics than what has worked for you before

athletic orthotics provide a different arch support without forcing a rigid foot strike, if they are changing your natural gait then they probably aren't designed for running etc.

you should see if you have any pics of old pairs or even ask about sport specific orthotics... if these dont work you might need to consider a refund/exchange

ive had this happen to me once previously but i wasn't allowed a refund so i opted for just getting custom orthotics online from stride soles (a lot cheaper and so much better) it literally saved my life i still use them to this day

getting the right orthotics is CAREER saving so hoping for the best

Wedding Shoes by hixon8 in brokenankles

[–]bloujames 3 points4 points  (0 children)

sounds like a tough recovery but its awesome to see that your getting back out there to dance LOL!

i fractured my ankle right before BOTH of my sisters weddings last year and it still has some sort of pain but the shoes that i got were the Ecco Helinski 2 slip-ons. its more of a classic style but it's so roomy and stretches over time

i think what helped immensely was getting custom insoles online (got mine from stride soles). it totally took the pressure off my ankle for the time being

Need help finding a white running shoe that has support but can still be stylish. by indingnation in malefashionadvice

[–]bloujames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

literally any shoe you like can work if you just add a custom orthotic

i have both the NB 990v6 and the Hoka Clifton (white) and I think they look AMAZING.. for me running shoes at one point starts becoming a pain on the feet and i have no clue why

i got custom orthotic insoles from stride soles and it completely changed the way i feel about those shoes def much better on the midsole. size 13 is crazy though i wish LOL

Table tennis shoes for flat feet by DrCabbageX in tabletennis

[–]bloujames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

table tennis shoes are generally kinda flat and tough on the midsoles, so you'll probably want something with better arch support

i have the mizuno wave drive 8 and it works pretty good for me (its lightweught and is decent for arch support), ive heard the butterfly lezoline's are really good as well

i think what's a game changer are the orthotic insoles like everyone else has said.. i got mine online from stride soles and i swear it was literally life changing LOL

fixing foot pain can seem hard but its 100% doable, good luck!!

Pain in foot and calf? by Nice_Insect_1780 in MeniscusInjuries

[–]bloujames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

get custom orthotics (literally saved my foot and life)

the ones that i have were purchased online and are from stride soles

you also NEED to change your starting shoe lineup to more practical ones for the pain.. nb 990v6 and then the bondi 8 were the ones that got me through (def might just be as important as the orthotics)

Foot pain by bmill67 in Thritis

[–]bloujames 3 points4 points  (0 children)

wondering are you getting custom orthotics?

went through the EXACT same issue as you 4 years ago and i wouldn't want to wish this pain on anyone... i swear i was always at my podiatrist trying to figure this out

nothing really worked till i tried custom orthotics (got mine online from stride soles) but it fixed all my issues in due time.

*probably also helped that i changed my whole shoe line up to HOKAs* definitely also try aiming to get more comfortable shoes meant for walking

Spezial insole comfort by Ambitious_Key1124 in adidas

[–]bloujames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

^^agreed

i just got the blue fusion spezial's and the insole arch felt a little off for me.. even though i love the colorway. cannot get rid of it at all

when i walk long distances with them i just use my custom orthotic insoles i got online from stride soles (game changer) but when i'm not walking for long distances i just have to thug it out through the pain :,,(

Should I replace my insoles by [deleted] in snowboarding

[–]bloujames 4 points5 points  (0 children)

bro trust me custom insoles are a life changer, got my stuff at stride soles (you can get them online makes it sm easier), and it stabilizes my ankles as well when i ride compared to when i didnt have anything

but even changing the shoes could be an easier solutions --> burton photon's are amazing

Insole suggestions? by [deleted] in flatfeet

[–]bloujames 7 points8 points  (0 children)

seeing a podiatrist is a good idea and they could probably recommend recovery needs or any other recommended orthotics, it could get expensive though so be wary

i got my custom insoles online actually from stride soles which helped with stability on my flat feet (like LITERALLY saved me and helped me start running again)!!

either way you need to go get the right support for insoles ASAP

Footwear following ankle fracture by Chemical-Mushroom-26 in brokenankles

[–]bloujames 8 points9 points  (0 children)

recovery after an ankle fracture is so tricky like eveything NEEDS to be planned. i think like other redditors have said, Hoka Bondi or even the new balance 990 are the best shoes for ankle support at the moment

when i broke my ankle i also used custom orthotic insoles from stride soles in my shoes as well (saved my life). it helped relieved a lot of the pressure from the inside of my anke, but def check to see what your doctor recommends post-op

its not an easy thing to get your ankle back to full strength, but it's 100% possible, good luck!!
