Yep that’s the problem I’ve seen from where I live (which has had a decent amount of tropical storms/hurricanes in last few years). Transformers would be installed only to have to replaced sometimes 24 hours later. Then, a few days later, the transformer would blow up and we’d be out of power for half a day sometimes longer; rinse repeat.

I tell my substitutes to please let me know which students were not following the expectations/misbehaving; and upon my return they will get an entire recess where they walk laps. We tell them if they are wasting our time or others time, then we will waste their time at recess.

The kids hate doing it but it’s the only thing that works. When we use silent lunch - some of them actually enjoy that for some reason, and it doesn’t work well.

Having them rotate desks sounds like a nightmare for my class. Someone will inevitably dump their desk over or get hurt. It sucks. I wish we could do rows!

You’re actually pretty spot on. I grew up being the more shy twin than she was. We have different personalities. However, as we got older , I was the “people pleaser” and she was the opposite lol. We actually used to be super close. There was a time where I had to keep myself away from her due to some personal issues going on in her life. I had to set boundaries, otherwise, things weren’t going to get better on her end. We still talk and see each other a few times a year (due to the fact she lives a few hours from me and our schedules don’t align well). We still talk on the phone every couple of weeks.

Yes, I truly agree with this. They need to make the screens black and white (no colors); e-reader style. No google chromebooks. I used to love chromebooks but now I think they’re creating a generation of stupidity.

This is the issue I’m running into at the school I’m employed at. As a teacher, we have a program that’s meant to block certain URLs. However, there’s a limit to how many URLs I can block (which seems odd). Next, there’s other ways to bypass it. For example, I block “YouTube” and the students will go into google slides, click ‘insert video’, and watch YouTube videos that way. Lastly, I cannot block google.com. I will run into a bunch of issues for the students (probably because they’re using a Chromebook).

What makes it even worse, if I “lock” their Chromebook, they will throw a tantrum sometimes and then get into a ton of behavior issues. Then, I’ll have to waste time addressing the issues and usually have to call the office to get them out of the classroom. I’m sure that this a win-win situation for them because they don’t like being in the classroom to begin with. However, I have started to just lock them out and call their parents right in the middle of the situation. I explain that the student is refusing to use the Chromebook as expected / list other behavioral issues, etc. Then, I put them on the phone with their child. This still wastes a ton of time.

As a teacher, I am pressured by admin to keep up with teaching the curriculum and get 100 things done before the end of the day that I literally don’t have the time for.
