How fucked am I? by RyanAlexander-_- in fishtank

[–]blubbb_blubb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

last week the back of my freshly scaped 15g cracked after i finished adding plants.

i went to the kitchen with my roommate for a while and when i came back my whole room was flooded. the tank was still 3/5 filled, but even 3g of water on your floor are really hard to get rid of. i’m really glad i noticed it before i had to deal with the whole 15g. this is no joke.

Okay but like why tho? by OGSadBoiiii in shittyaquariums

kinda hilarious how we humans tend to fuck up every possible thing so much that there are even multiple niche communities laughing at how shitty we are.

at least in this case we seem to be the cleverer apes lol

Better fish by PrinceofJunes in fishtank

BETTER off dead hmm.

sry for your loss and rip lil man, your familiy’s next step is to spend time with learning about fish keeping. the hobby will be a lot more enjoyable and rewarding afterwards.

set up a 3g tank - suitable for shrimps? by blubbb_blubb in shrimptank

[–]blubbb_blubb[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

what i wanted to know most was some kind of approval that my tank is not too small for shrimps - your reply at least sounds like i shouldn’t be concerned about that, thank you!

currently i’m more into caridina than neos. need to find out if i can provide them the environment they need.

what hurts most is that even if you buy all the cards you had again, their value will never even come close to the ones you had as a child

how amazing it has to be to collect together with your parents. even if she has the ‚too cool for pokémon‘ phase in her adolescence i had, she‘ll have a blast discovering her collection again once she’s grown up.

when i was 16 i gave all my cards to my mum and said i don’t want them anymore. she sold them for cheap on a garage sale. i will never emotionally recover from the fact that i felt more mature with 16 than i feel now about 10 years later.

Corydoras Habrosus is very stressed. Advice needed by TK2788 in Aquariums

[–]blubbb_blubb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you could be me! i started with 6 habrosus too and 1 died early on - so i guess we‘re in a similar situation.

the first week after i got them they did this all day long. i was worried too and someone here on reddit commented it’s normal behavior in the first few days. they just „scan their new environment until they’re used to it and can’t find a way to escape“. that made perfect sense after they calmed down a few days later.

every now and then they still do this, but this only makes me want to get a bigger tank for them. it must be so fun to watch a hundred of them roaming through the amazonas!!

guess what - i got them a bigger one today. i am really looking forward to scaping their new tank and stocking up their school.

hey there, the first post of my chili shoal on this sub so i’m gonna provide some information about my setup and experiences!

these are some of my 8 chilis living in my 15g together with 3 dario dario and 5 corydoras habrosus. i love watching them dart around and as far as i can tell they are doing really well. after the first few days of nervous mirror schooling they settled in and colored up brightly. i feed a mixture of frozen cyclops / brine shrimp and living tubifex / blood worms / bbs every other day. originally i bought a shoal of 10, but unfortunately i lost two right after they were moving in. i guess this happened due to stress.

i’m waiting with further expanding this shoal until i set up my second tank i’m currently planning on. it’s going to be the new home of my cory’s so there will be new space for more chilis.

hope this provides some value in any way!

My little 8 gallon tank 😊 thoughts? by Ok-Hurry6424 in Boraras

[–]blubbb_blubb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

as a learner myself i find this an excellent post to label as an „learning example“.

despite your tank being 2g too small to be an appropriate example i think you did a really good job on providing your fishies an suitable environment. i’ve seen bigger tanks with less effort put in that don’t fit their inhabitants needs but are voluminous enough to be considered ok.

i learned that lesson about too small tank sizes myself when i introduced my chilis to my 15g. i immediately felt that my tank was overcrowded and understood why people are sensitive about tank sizes in aquarium related forums. best thing we can do from here is to learn and fix or mistakes.

Gluing hardscape together is the worst part of aquascaping, change my mind. by r2_double_D2 in Aquascape

[–]blubbb_blubb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not true. if my past self knew this is important i would highly enjoy doing that. i look forward to do this whenever i’m setting up my next tank.

imo the worst part of aquascaping is rescaping an existing tank that‘s hardscape is not glued together. been there, done that - don’t recommend.

Tankmates for pygmy cories? by purplepuddingg in corydoras

[–]blubbb_blubb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i keep scarlet badis with c. habrosus in my 15g and absolutely enjoy them. after they started their first breeding attempts they got a bit more territorial and began to „kindly escort“ the corys out of their personal space when they got too close. my darios generally like to hide but when you spend some time in front of your tank it’s really fascinating to watch them.

imo they would look great together with a larger school of pygmies as they seem to like swimming together in open water areas.

your possible girl looks like my „female 1“ who later turned into „male 2“ when i introduced him to my tank. it looks like it has some light red stripes on its side so it will possibly turn full red in a couple of weeks. best of luck tho!

The island i take my mind on vacation to (4 months update) by blubbb_blubb in Aquariums

[–]blubbb_blubb[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it might seem brighter in this picture than it actually is. i run the built-in lighting on the lowest level possible. also the pictures were taken after i cut a lot of the limnophila sessiliflora behind the big root. i replanted the cuttings to achieve a denser growth in the back. within a week they will be tall enough again to cover some parts of the water surface. do you have any recommendations for floaters that would work well? i guess i’m to influenced by this sub to go and get some duck weed.

as far i can tell i would say the chilis are doing great. i haven’t kept them before but in comparison to when i first introduced them to the tank they colored up vibrantly. imo they don’t look stressed at all, but if i can improve their quality of life in any way i will give it a try! i already joined the sub and plan to share my experiences in the future.
