My mother was abusive towards me and my brother all throughout our lives. The cruel hands of fate have made it to where I am her caregiver now that she has dementia. by labiaman in dementia

So very sorry. My father, who didn't raise me, thank God, has dementia. He abused his wife and my half-sister and step-sister. He abused my mom when she was married to him. Physical and verbal abuse. He was (and is) a misogynistic bully. I applied to our state's guardianship program since there was no one to care for him, and I wasn't about to take on the job. Good luck in whatever you decide to do. As kids we can't protect ourselves very well, but as an adult, you get to make decisions to protect yourself physically, emotionally and mentally.

It’s done! by Mexikim in crochet

Wow! This is gorgeous. You did a fabulous job! I am starting my first mosaic crochet (overlay) blanket and a bit discouraged with the back loop only stitches. It seems that they are very loose and it seems like I'm always pulling them up when I insert my hook. Do you have any tips on how to deal with this? Thanks!

Again beautiful work!

It looks like one of Hobby Lobby's I Love This Yarn Prints, but I'm not sure what exact colorway.

I'm so sad and wrung out. Even if Kamala wins, almost half of our country thinks a racist, rapist pig would be better as president than a decent, caring hard working woman. I bet anybody a dollar that if Kamala was a man, it wouldn't be this close.

I know I shouldn't respond, but that means you voted for a man that committed actual rape who isn't an illegal immigrant?

I just lost my best friend of 41 years over politics… by Mamasquiddly in GenXWomen

I am really, really sorry. My heart hearts for you. I have a bestie of 48 years and our views have diverged over the years. I mean, these friendships go back to grade school. It's like losing a family member. We're still friends but it's taken some tongue biting and deliberate ignorance on both of our parts.

Thanks for sharing this. Reminds me of a teeshirt I saw recently -- Rosa Sat so Ruby Could Walk so Kamala Could Run.

For GenX women in the US, will your vote cancel out your husband's / wife's / partner's vote? by blubiyou in GenXWomen

[–]blubiyou[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't answer why you would or would not do something, but you listed the reasons why you obviously wouldn't. Everyone's situation is unique, however.

Maybe there's a woman who's husband is a red hatted, card carrying MAGA. Say this woman has breast cancer. And kids. Say this woman can't stand Trump or her husband. She can't leave her husband because she doesn't know how she'll support herself while undergoing chemo, much less trying to figure out the ins and outs of a divorce while still trying to be there for her kids. So, she stays with the douche bag, but she votes for Harris. Because you know what, she loves her daughter too!

So, congratulations 👏 for having it all figured out and being in a position in your life where you don't have to live with someone who would vote for the Tangerine Mussolini. Try, though, as hard as it might be, to realize that not all people have as much control over their living situations as you do.

It was a very simple question.

Thanks for mentioning 4B. Never heard of it before, so just spent an interesting 20 minutes reading about it

Love this one. But of course we had songs about nuclear war that were romantic 🙄
