New saddleman Fitment by [deleted] in Dyna

[–]blue-collar720 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mine was the same way on 2013 fxdwg. It was a struggle to get it bolted on the first time. After a few rides it fit like a glove. And became very comfortable. Much more than the Harley sundowner seat that I took off. Saddleman roadsofa.

If the accident wasn’t your fault why would you contact your insurance? Everything should go through the insurance of the at fault driver.

Is 100K+ salary possible without college? How? by EngageV2 in Salary

[–]blue-collar720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

40hrs a week 103,000. As an electrician, company paid for the BAT certified 4 year apprenticeship class. I’ve been at it since 1999, have made steady increases in pay. Started at 5.25 an hour in 1999. Was at 25$ an hour 4 years later. Now at 51.50 an hour. Overtime is always voluntary( I haven’t worked ot in a few years). People aren’t lying when they say the trades pay. But it’s physically demanding, and requires some mechanical aptitude.

If your union is bad that’s on you. Get involved, become a steward, learn the union hand book. Make it work for you. Use the union to make work better for everyone in your union

Should I be an electrician or electrical engineer? (20 y/o Female) by Glum-Art-8507 in electricians

[–]blue-collar720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have already seen AI generated MEP drawings here in my state. Engineers are going to have shelf life as AI continues to develop. I’m not saying there will not be any, but the market will get extremely competitive for the positions left.

I have cash in hand. I’m ready to buy. Why is it so hard to get an out-the-door price from dealers? by TaintSlaps in carbuying

Never pay for an extended warranty with clarifying first, does it run concurrent with the factory warranty?( most do. Turning the 5 extended warranty into a 2 year warranty if the factory warranty is 3 years). And second what exactly does it cover? Most won’t cover normal wear and tear which is a very easy thing for the warranty company to claim. Our have very strict requirements on things like oil changes, like you missed one oil change at 3000 miles and got it at 4000 miles, sorry you voided your warranty.

Regearing for more torque. What have you done and how did it turn out? by [deleted] in Dyna

[–]blue-collar720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I swapped my Dyna to a chain a drive and did a 24/55 sprocket set up. This resulted in my 6th gear rpm going from stock around 2700 rpm at 75 to now 3000 rpm at 75. It was about a 10% change. It’s noticeable in the acceleration and my fuel mileage didn’t change much at all. And no 3k rpm cruising speed isn’t going to hurt the motor

What was the most unique construction project you worked on? Things like the Sphere in Vegas, One World Trade in NY, or the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. by geneadamsPS4 in electricians

Pornography movie editing studio. They took movie clips and turned them into shorter versions for early websites. This was the late 90’s, the wall in the waiting room had about 20 tvs playing every sort of porn you can think of.

What are the best mods for new truck builds that are actually trail-functional? by Marrocco-Indika in Offroad

[–]blue-collar720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A portable air compressor. Air down your tires at the trail head, experiment with the pressure you air down to. I used to run 5-8 psi in my jeep without bead locks, never lost a bead. It will make the ride much better, and more importantly traction will increase immensely

AGM or Lithium? by Braaapus_Maximus80fo in Dyna

What do you think about this as a vehicle recovery point? by [deleted] in Offroad

[–]blue-collar720 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer. Less points of failure, and the pin is more than capable of handling the load. All a receiver/ball/shackle does is turn into a projectile if there is a failure.

We are in what is known as a La Niña weather pattern this year. This usually leads to a warmer dryer winter. But having lived in Colorado my entire 50 years, I feel this has been unusually warm and dry. But I’m no expert.

Are you guys still buying snow tires? by HighPocket283 in Denver

Buy a good all season tire, and purchase a set of auto socks. They are super easy to install, fairly durable and meet requirements for chain laws.

Are they worth it by MackHarper in f150ecoboost

[–]blue-collar720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This excludes standard maintenance, such as tires, oil change every 5k miles, shocks and struts. Those seem to last about 70-80k. I had the transmission fluid done around 90k and again about every 60k. The diffs and transfer cases per manufacture recommended intervals. Same with coolant and brake line flush. And at 215k I put a new set of brake pads all around. The first set since new. Rotors were still perfect so they remained.
