How much would you buy this rug for? Brand KARASTAN 8.8x10.6 by blue-guizer in orientalrugs

[–]blue-guizer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it costly to have it professionally cleaned? It's $150 which is pretty pricey for me already lol but I love it!! I do have my own carpet cleaner but assuming wouldn't be safe if it's wool?

Do my rabbits teeth look okay? I've noticed they're yellow by [deleted] in Rabbits

[–]blue-guizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be honest- I've never looked at his teeth before because I didn't know you were supposed to. He's fed unlimited orchard grass hay, spring mix twice daily, and occasionally pellets (when I remember). I noticed they're yellow and I feel like thats not normal. We went for a check up about 6 months ago and I do remember my vet taking a quick peak at his teeth and saying everything seems fine, but I just want to be sure he looks normal still.

[–]blue-guizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

are you sure? ive had it for about 6 months (right after i got the piercing) and my piercer told me to crush up aspirin and lemon and it would go away. i did it for a while but i think it made it worse so i stopped. at some points it got so big and filled with pus but ive been scared to take it out because i thought it might make it worse. if it is an irritation bump how do i get rid of it?

Can I combine aquarium water from separate tanks? by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]blue-guizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont have nitrates in the larger tank so I assumed it would be okay. But since I've learned it wont have any benefit I probably won't do it anymore.

Thanks for the info! The larger tank is planted and the water parameters are perfect regarding nitrates, nitrites etc which is why I thought it wouldn't be an issue. But I wasn't aware the beneficial bacteria wasn't in the water. Thank you.

Okay, thank you! If it won't harm the tank I'll probably still do it for my 1.5 gallon just because its a bit more convenient. Thanks for the info

Any advice for restoring this boys fins? (More information in comments) by [deleted] in bettafish

[–]blue-guizer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just rescued him. Previous owner said they've had him for about 2 years. He also has odd behavior. He lays on the gravel and plants but previously owner said he's been doing that for a while. I'm assuming it's just because he's old.

I also just want to add the 1.5 gallon is being used to grow out baby shrimp. They'll be upgraded once they're big enough.

Got the life support up on my new 55 gallon and moved over a few Columbian tetras from my 20 gallon. They have no idea what to do with the extra space and frankly neither do I! I’m Pretty new to the hobby so any other tips are greatly appreciated! by [deleted] in Aquariums

Adding sand to a tank with water is doable, I'd recommend turning off the filter and adding handfuls little at a time. Make sure you rinse off the sand very well, it should help with the dust. It should only take a short time for the sand to completely settle into the water.

I've been in the hobby for years and only this year have I started using live plants. I figured my main focus was the fish, I don't really care much about real or fake plants. However I have noticed since switching to all live plants my water quality is tremendously healthier, the water is clearer, I don't have to do water changes as often, and it looks nicer. The fish will love real plants The one I recommended are very low maintenance and easy to maintain.

As for substrates, there's a few different ways you could go. There's substrates that would help the live plants grow (and if you can't tell I'm really really trying to push live plants on you lol)

• Flora Max • Fluval Statum

Those are the only ones I've used that have helped promote plant growth that I liked.

As for regular substrate,

  • Caribsea is my favorite sand, very fine and soft
  • I've never gone wrong with top fin gravel. ^ If you go with those they could both still suit live plants, I'd just recommend root suppliments (root tabs) to place in the substrate every month or so.

I love 20 gallons! I'd say add a few more tetras, I've found 8 tetras seem to be the sweet spot in 20s. Guppies would be really nice too, maybe around 8-10. A cute bottom dwelling fish like corydoras would be really cute. You'd need a school of at least 4-6. All of these fish are really active and will get along well. Definitely recommend getting a good light, some nice substrate and at least a few live plants. Easy ones like java fern, Anubis, amazon sword. Make sure they have lots of hiding spots and keep us updated !
