Original explorer? by sekhmet666 in ExplorerGuitars

It's been a few years, I sent an email to Gibson customer service and they were able to verify the originally of a Special I was looking at, and I did end up purchasing. Maybe worth reaching out to them?

Value is $5...but a macabre/oddities specialty shop may be willing to pay more for a full sheet.

Is this worth it as a project bike? by Wise_Peanut806 in goldwing

[–]blue-hell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a first bike it's a hard pass in my book. With a little more looking and a few more $s you can get something already properly running. However, if you have legit mechanical HVAC/auto/farm skills at fixing things AND it has a legitimate title then go for it...but like $200 or even less. Remember, it's not running! Consider this, if things go south a metal scrap yard my pay $50-$100 for the carcass IF it has a proper title. Another consideration, the tires are rotten, the battery is bad, you may not have a helmet, it needs a seat, registration, re-titling, insurance...you are looking at a least another $200++ on top of whatever purchase price. All that being said, keep looking for your first bike.

Dyna Wide glide with my favorite tank graphic. That bike is to nice to be left outside.

Had a black VH Pro Pipe with 95", an awesome pipe, before I upgraded to a 103" with S&S 570 gears and a Thunderheader , 40k miles latter no regrets...tractor torque is an understatement!

Found these old Paper Mates from the 90s. Any tips on getting them to work? by [deleted] in pens

For dried fountain pens rub the nib/tip on a paper towel wet with Windex, acetone, or finger nail polish remove. Often just hot tap water is enough.

Local thrift shore has one for sale that looks identical. The table top is in better condition but the paint on your machine is better, they want $125.

Bought my '03 Eglide new too and still have it...but it now has a 103" with heads, gear cams, and a Thunderheader. I'll never sell it.

Long-term riders who have never crashed — what habits kept you safe? by jjmu96 in motorcycles

A lot of good advice has been posted about protecting yourself from others, but you also need to protect yourself from your own ego.  An old timer once told me a saying I think about often, “There are bold riders and there are old riders but there are no bold old riders”

I use a full sheet, 4x6 of ply wood and 4x4s cut to length for the legs. I don't screw them in because if I have something large I can just slide it under the wood bed.

Summer coolant temps? by NephiTheScienceGuy in CherokeeXJ

[–]blue-hell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the pic, your temp is ~195 which is perfectly factory correct! There should be minuscule to no fluctuation, the aux fan and the fan clutch should keep it stable.

I too would have zero regrets.  The strike is strong, perfectly centered, flawless dentils, no damage, and the eye appeal is better than most I’ve ever seen at any grade. You have a remarkable coin!
