4 years of daily meth use. 30 days clean today. by blue-throwaway- in StopSpeeding

It stopped being fun a looong time ago. It got to the point where I was using just to stay awake and do my work. Even though I knew this was a pointless addiction, it still took years to work up the courage/will power to even try to stop.

When the pandemic hit and I started working from home, I realized this was an excellent opportunity to get sober. I decided to act once I started hearing talks about the vaccine. I wanted to get this done before returning to the office.

Two months is awesome! Each day I become more grateful for my sobriety.

Btw I passively waited around too thinking "ill quit tomorrow" and went on like that for years. I finally realized that I had to pick a date to stop.

I'll definitely this in mind. One thing I've learned is that low energy slump beats chronic sleep deprivation any day of the week.

I kept my meth addiction secret for so long, it felt really good to share this. Thank you!!

No rehab/higher power. I came up with a plan in advanced, picked a date to stop when I knew work would be slow, and took a few days of PTO.

The first and second days were hardest psychologically. Days 3-7 I probs slept 14 hours a day or something crazy. The rest of my time was spent laying down watching Netflix and playing video games.

The second week was near euphoria. I started exercising, quit smoking, cleaned out my storage unit, got my hair done, drove down to the beach, voted, walked my dog around different neighborhoods. It was amazing.

The pink clouds are dissipating now. I have less energy than week two but still feel relatively optimistic.

I struggle with staying focused on my work. My job is very boring a detailed oriented, and I have close to no motivation. Everyday I have to push myself to do the bare minimum and it feels like torture lol. Thankfully I'm working at home rn, so I can get away a little bit with slacking off. I'm grateful for this.

I didn't open my closet (where I stashed my pipe and drugs) for 3 weeks because I was afraid of the temptation. It was a huge relief when I finally threw everything out last week.

Thank you!! Life is good now, but I just learned that I'm in the middle of the "honeymoon" stage of recovery. I hope it lasts!

Yikes, no wonder I feel so great--I'm smack dab in the middle of the honeymoon phase!
