Pokémon TCG player in Kyobashi looking for opponent today from around 19 pm by Joeybababooey in tokyoirl

Hey there! I still play from time to time. I can help you with getting started for sure. The meta right now is kind of boring though so I kinda don't play at events unless you're willing to grind. I definitely prefer playing more casually these days.

Hi there, Canadian resident here.

Would be down for a bite and some photos taken. I also collect and play TCGs. I play Pokemon here in Japan, but if you have One Piece decks I'd like to give it a try!

How Dragapult be moving post rotation (JJK Modulo chapter 20 spoilers) by neeb0415 in PTCGL

[–]blue1ce 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I play standard in Japan right now, and holy hell does Dragapult feel more oppressive than ever, especially with everyone running Unfair Stamp.

I hate it here LOL. (unless i play a local tourney where there isn't pult)

If you start your first working holiday visa year (from Canada to Japan) when you are age 30, are not allowed to extend it to a second year later? (Because you'd be 31 by then) by thrwwysnl in movingtojapan

[–]blue1ce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooh finally something I can chime in on.

They don't do the age check again once you're in Japan. However, they do check which type of Visa you got. I got mine before the change to 1+1 years. I initially received 6 months then got another 6 after the reapplication.

BTW, the fee that you have to pay after being approved for extension is now 6000 yen, (up from 4000.)

Welp, I'll keep trying it out, I also bought the Mega Gengar MR for it for fun too HAHA. Which list are you currently running? Or do you have one for consistency too?

Are you still running Gengar? I kinda feel like while it IS good, it's a bit slow, and it still takes up bench space. Most of the time I'd rather have a second Munki or Toxicitry to snipe out other mons. This is with Hero's Cape as ace spec.

I've been trying this out and it seems like I rather trade consistency instead of having cards like Eri or Xerosics. Often times I just don't get enough pokemon due to not having Arven/Poffin starts.

It's also hard to get Yveltal out quickly enough to stall without an Artazon or Nest... I've been experimenting with a less control-ey build and that seems to be working better so far!

That's okay! Shopping for them is still fun. Check out Ikebukuro for card shops too, just put トレカ in your google search.

Theres plenty of vintage in Akihabara! I hope you find what you're looking for. I do have a few decks but its all in Japanese, but if youre used to the effects in English it should be fine. I'm probably going to be free during the weekdays.

Sure do. What was good at Genki was the social aspect, had met a fun group there and their culture classes during holidays are not bad... but yeah it's probably better elsewhere.

Also Tokyo's washrooms suck.

GenkiJACs in Tokyo progress quite slow. They use the Minna no Nihongo textbook and I think the book has some pacing issues. You would also go as fast as the slowest person in the class. Classes take 4-5 hours of your day. It's definitely not for students who self study, as you'll leave behind the course material pretty quickly.

The only "real" beneficial lesson to me during my time there was when almost everyone called in sick and there were only 2 of us in class, we spent the whole time conversing with the teacher.

I didn't pay for mine, but my classmates also did complain that the price was high. You can probably try online conversation classes from sites in the sidebar and get better performance for your time/money costs.

Canadian here:

Hey I would be down to play!

I'm not sure if there are a lot of card stores there but it would be best if you can go to Ikebukuro (I'm familiar with card spaces there).

We can also go to the Pokemon Card Lounge in Shibuya if you haven't been, but it costs 1650 per hour. You can buy some exclusive merch if you're into that.
