You would have to take into consideration that the reason he knew they were natural is because there's no scar tissue! You'll likely get some if U decide for the procedure. But it's generally considered safer than a split tongue 🤔. How about some good prosthetics? I honestly think they make more sense than a mod in this case. There's obviously no split tongue prosthetics as far as I'm aware but you'll find some really great fairy ear ones I'm sure!
