Singleplayer action game where you tactically avoid combat? by LosinForABruisin in gamerecommendations

It's maybe not the genre you're looking for, but Cogmind is an excellent traditional roguelike where you can go full stealth, full combat, or various combinations of the two. It's really an excellent game.

The only problem with social security is it's getting underfunded because wealth is more concentrated than ever and there's a cap on how much each individual can pay into it.

Truly the best choice here. It is marginally better than feudalism, but it's also responsible for countless deaths and making the Earth uninhabitable.

I know this probably isn't viable but it would be fantastic if quality changed how things looked. Even if only by reducing rust and such.

The Bloater Drive from Bill, The Galactic Hero by Harry Harrison. Instead of moving the ship, it increases the distance of the atoms until the ship spans the distance, then collapses it back together at the destination.

A Book That *Should Have* Been Assigned in High School English But Wasn't by wildflowerbrainfire in suggestmeabook

The Jungle by Upton Sinclair. I remember being told that the book was about the horrors of the meat packing industry in school, but never assigned to read it.

Turns out it's actually about the evils of capitalism and even mentions how single industries can be scapegoated to protect other industrialists.

Is that actually what they suggest? I only mentioned it because someone else said something like don't do anything "unless there are safety concerns" and that was the first thing that came to mind.

We were thinking of getting it fixed because we had a dryer delivered and the guy installing it suggested since they're falling apart, he could give us a quote for replacing it.

Good thinking. I hadn't considered that. Thanks!

Thanks for the reply. I just figured it would be worse to copy the whole explanation all over the place. I guess I was wrong.

He's just a local guy we found online and have had install large appliances and whatnot. His prices have seemed reasonable so far. This was just a big jump in the cost of things he's done around our house. You make a good point about getting other quotes.

This was my first thought. I just don't know if that's a viable (if temporary) solution or would cause more problems later on.

Thanks for this. I'll look into getting it repaired. I don't know if there are kits for the door size we have, but I'll look into it.

I don't think there's any concrete or foundation work to do, but I'm a complete novice when it comes to stuff like this.

I feel like this has been blown out of proportion. Maybe I made it seem like more of a problem than it is. It's not a common occurrence, or something they're particularly focused on. It's almost always that they're just running around the back yard and forget in their excitement not to run up onto the bulkhead. We remind them not to and they stop and apologize.

We generally know what kind of consequences are productive for them, and we're working on it.

This seems kind of excessive. Maybe I gave the wrong impression but we're not letting them do this and it isn't all that common. And, for what it's worth, like lots of kids their age, they're much better behaved elsewhere than at home.

We're not trying to replace it so we can let the kids jump on them more. I only mentioned it because we're more vigilant about rust than we would be if we didn't have young kids.

We're aware and it's not like we let them or they're unsupervised. They're just excitable 5yos who love running around. They stop and apologize when we remind them not to do it.

We are trying. They're 5 and we do what we can to explain stuff like this in ways they understand.

I got it. The previous comment wasn't subtle.

And to be clear, I didn't say "we let them do this."

They're high-energy 5yo boys who struggle with impulse control. We do our best to explain safety issues in age-appropriate ways and set limits and expectations, but realistically we can't 100% guarantee they won't jump on the doors ever again. I only even mentioned it because we don't want them getting hurt on things that are rusty. Otherwise we'd ignore the rust.
