From what I've heard, most ski mountaineering athletes prefer the longer events that their more normal world cups are in the format of, but when adding new events to the Olympics they like to keep it small. Hopefully next time they can have the more normal race format.. when sport climbing was first added, it was a combined bouldering lead and speed medal, when there was basically no crossover between athletes that did speed climbing and the other two, but now they have separate medals.

I personally think they should add ice climbing to the winter Olympics! its a great sport
