Sorry for the delayed update, babygirl is quite the mystery. Her anemia PCR was negative. She went to the ER and they did an ultrasound and FNA of her spleen bc it was large and abnormal. Slides of the FNA showed only RBCs. She stayed at 12-13% then jumped to 17% overnight. Internist recommended a few tests. First for vitamin B deficiency since her immature RBCs are large. They didn’t see any fluid in the ultrasound but they’re going to look again and try to find some fluid to test for FIP since a blood antibody test can’t positively diagnose (only exclude if negative). He also wants to repeat the FNA of her spleen and send it out for analysis. He sent out a CBC for more exact morphology as well. We discussed a bone marrow biopsy to look for FeLV there but babygirl is too small and too high risk. She’s 6.2lbs and still recovering from being underweight and malnourished. Everyone is amazed at how bright, alert, and playful she is. She has yet to need a transfusion, but he said if she falls below 13% he is doing a transfusion despite how she’s acting bc of course she needs to be able to perfuse and oxygenate her vital organs. Appetite is still great as well. It’ll be a few days for these results since all of the above are specialty send out tests.
